This has been happening for a while now in CS:S and I can't find a fix. It happens about 5 or so minutes into a game (Only in CS:S, never in Gary's Mod, my only other game.)

As you can see, part of the character is stretched, this happens with anything. It was so bad an MP5 was stretched across the screen stopping me from being able to see. I think it's artifacting but I've never seen it this bad, can anyone help? I've tried older, newer, stock drivers and re-installing CS:S.

My specs are in my sig, 7.1 Drivers, and temps are 83c (According to CCC) during errors. (It's only been happening recently though and I've had those temps before with no problem.)

That is artifacting; definitely... strange though since you haven't overclocked your video card. Especially since it's only been happening recently...

Driver Cleaner costs, don't have the money. (A few bucks short in my paypal.)

I haven't OCed at all although I had Overdrive unlocked but with the recent driver upgrade it re-locket itself. Do you guys think getting a better cooler will stop the artifacts? Or is it (because it's just started) gone bad in some way?

It's started happening in Gary's Mod as well. :(

Is Valve screwing with the underlying rendering paths? I know the 8800's on the release drivers worked great in CS:S. Then they shat themselves and produced a fog effect that looked horrible and killed performance. Nvidia acknowledged the issue and stated it was an application issue and are working with the cendor to fix it.

The free version is still free.
Google is your friend.

Try it and see what happens. (it's a driver reinstall, you have nothing to loose, just follow the directions).

Yes, I know how to use google. I shifted through the site that's linked and thought if I can't find a free version advertised there then there must not be one, I guess I was mistaken. I'll try that tonight.

Ok I've followed the instructions given to me by wizboy11 to the letter and I still get it. It took about 8 minutes playing on my own server against 1 CPU bot and then about 5 minutes in a 10 man server. :(

Ok so it's been awhile and I've lived with this problem, it's annoying and frustrating but I've dealt. Last night it got so bad that text and the menus in CS were freaking out and messing up (like deforming then re-forming.) What is causing this? Is it overheating? Is there any way to fix it? Should I just RMA?

Haven't encountered a similar issue all this time with CS: S.. It could be geometry corruption as well but I doubt it.. It seems more like a memory issue. Some versions of G80 XP drivers can cause this sort of "unique" problems.. Have you tried uninstall/install of the game? Also make sure to use 97.02 they are by far the most stable drivers thus far.. As far as the uninstallation is concerned just do the following and don't use DC..
1) Uninstall NVIDIA driver using one of two methods

a) Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - Select NVIDIA Drivers - chose "remove only the following" and select "NVIDIA Display Driver"

or

b) Right click on desktop screen/Properties/Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Adapter/Properties/Driver/Uninstall

2) After uninstalling the NVIDIA driver, reboot into standard Microsoft VGA driver mode

3) Go to Start > Run > and type ?regedit"- select HKey Local Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video and delete ALL keys. Also go into HKey Local Machine/System/ControlSet001, 002, 003 (if they exist), and delete any keys down the /Control/Video paths similar to above.

3) Install NVIDIA 97.02 or higher driver

Also do you experience this problem with any other games? If not then you gpu probably is just fine and it's just an issue with the game..

Hey Jim, nVidia drivers are great and all, but I have an ATI card. o_O

So I broke down and called AMD/ATI customer service, they comfirmed what others said, and told me to RMA. So... :(
