I used to play WoW, but kicked the habit over a year ago, and I'm pretty sure that I used a different email address with Blizzard.

I assume a goldfarmer just used my email address to sign up with WoW, but this is the ONLY email I've ever received from Blizzard on this account. I would have thought that if someone signed up with my email address, I would have gotten some confirmation emails or something from Blizzard.

Note that my email address is xxxx1@gmail.com. In the body of the message, Blizzard addressed the email to xxxx11@gmail.com.

:confused::confused::confused:

Doesn't seem like a scam to me. I used to get them all the time and they'd all ask for the same thing. Account name, password, name on account, CD Key(or picture of CD Key) etc..

You should check further in to this. Looks like someone has somehow gotten a hold of your account info.

Use google to find it if you must, but always take yourself to the support site. Never use a link from e-mail to enter in information you do not want thieves to have.

Looks legit to me. I have been banned for botting a few times and I get the exact same email. The ones that try to phish you for information usually ask you for you cd key, secret question/answer and your password.

I tried mousing over the links in Blizzard's email, and each link is exactly the same as shown in the email.

I think it's a real ban notice, but like I said in the original post, this email address was never associated with my WoW account. In fact, I've been receiving emails from Blizzard to my "real" email address offering me a free trial of The Burning Crusade if I come back to World of Warcrack.

It's just weird that this is the only notice I've received from blizzard at this email account. Also, the username is off by 1 character. I wonder if somebody mistyped something.

Did you ever share you password with another player or friend? I have heard of accounts being phished after having been cancelled and restarted by IGE or whoever to be resold or used as a farming account. The mail looks legit. Try to log in to your account on the world of warcraft website account management page and see what happens.

Nah it's not a fake, it's a preemptive strike from Blizzard is all. You see they knew that one day you would start playing WOW again with a new account and stir up a bunch of trouble?:D
