Weird Ebay problem

Yeah, NOSCRIPT is almost certainly the culprit here.
eBay’s checkout flow is one giant spaghetti ball of JavaScript + iframes + third-party payment gateways. If NOSCRIPT is blocking even one of those scripts (especially anything under pay.ebay.com or payments.ebaystatic.com), the “Buy It Now” button will silently fail, exactly what you’re seeing.
I don't use eBay, but this is why I stopped using NoScript a few years ago. It was starting to get extremely annoying to get a website purchase through checkout without having some issue. It was even more annoying when MasterCard or Visa would do their additional bank check pop-up.

A workaround is barring noscript from private windows. If you're giving a company your money, you probably trust them enough, so you can do it through a private window, and use noscript with your daily driver. It is a supreme hassle though. You have to be dedicated to run noscript these days. It's probably 50-50 balancing the hassle it removes with the hassle it adds, but the hassle it adds comes with privacy and security, so I deal with it.

Yes, that was certainly a work around, but still annoying because I don't always assemble my shopping cart all at once.

These days, I want to manage my privacy stuff, but I also don't want to deal with too much of a hassle. So I just try to strike a balance.

I was unaware of problems of consequence in my activity at eBay and have been running NOSCRIPT for quite some time. I do a fair amount of ebay buying. Have done a bit of selling there but not for over 10 years, I figure.

At the moment I have NOSCRIPT removed. I made a purchase at eBay less than an hour ago with no difficulty.

If you don't want NoScript to bother you while browsing eBay, you can simply create a new browser profile specifically for it. Each profile has separate cache and cookie spaces. You can still apply NoScript in the main profile.

Sometimes eBay glitches on checkout if cookies or cache are messed up. Try clearing them or using a private/incognito tab.
Yeah, I do a fair amount of business at Ebay, especially recently. Received an item this afternoon. Not so much business that I can't open private window if I'm having a problem. Didn't used to have problems though at eBay.
