Weird display issue with AMD card and 2 displays

I have an rx 480 hooked up to a 1440p monitor via HDMI and have had absolutely no issues.

I recently added a crappy projector to my setup, and when using it, clone the displays at the projectors native resolution. So both displays are set to 1024x768.

Once I start mirroring at that res, my main display (the acer 1440 monitor) starts to flicker like its a bad cable. My first thought obviously was that it was a bad cable - but why would it be fine then when not running two displays?

This is my first AMD card in a LONG time - maybe there is some setting I can adjust? Ive always used Nvidia (hurrrdurr dumb username), but its always been much easier to me.

Also on a side note - I was also getting really weird issues when mirroring, like the screen not being centered, and some of the display hanging off the main monitor. At the same time, the screen had a border around the entire desktop on the projector.

Does your cpu have integrated graphics? Could just run the projector off the board, and keep your screen at its native resolution on the card.
