I just got CS:Source a couple days ago. I was benchmarking my system with the video stress test that is included with it, and was getting low scores compared to my friend who has the same system as me, except that instead of a 9700 pro he has a 9700 non pro. He was getting a good 10-15fps average more than me. I then realized that it was because my system still had vertical sync forced on in my control panel (I notice quite a bit of tearing during gaming without it), so I asked him to enabled vsync on his rig to see how we would compare. For giggles, he turned on 2xAA and put his shadow detail to low.
Now for the bug...he runs the video stress test, and tiles and surfaces are all bright purple. He thought I had just caused him to damage his card, so he quickly exited the game and returned his settings to default. I thought that was a very strange occurence, so when I came home today I tried to replicate it on my setup, and sure enough, I was able to.
With my 3D settings in my control panel set to application preference, I enabled vsync, 2xAA, and low shadow details in CS:S one by one, running the video stress test each time I enabled one of those features. Sure enough, on the final one, enabling vsync in the options, I ran the video stress test and all my tiles and surface textures were bright purple. As soon as I turn vsync off, the artifacts go away, but they require both AA and low shadow details in addition to vsync just to appear. If I set vsync and AA in my control panel, I get no issues whatsoever, even if I have low shadow detail enabled in CS:S. Can anyone else replicate/confirm this?
I'm using the 2.5.90 Omega drivers (4.10s).
