Hmm..

I have this really weird computer problem. My computer is usually very stable.. but once in awhile it will randomly reboot. Sometimes while rebooting, it will reboot again, and again. Then after I leave the computer alone for awhile, this problem goes away.. I have thought about heating problems.. but then that wasn't it since the cpu runs at 32 celsius.. My figured it might be the Geforce MX card being too hot.. but again it hasn't the problem either cuz it never reboots while running 3d appz, games etc...

but this once.. it rebooted but the computer bios wouldn't load anymore.. I just get this blank screen with the HDD and FDD LED light on the whole time... nothing loads up and no HDD activities.. but now after I left it alone, it works flawlessly again.....

My spec is
Duron @ 600
Abit KT7
256 Micron PC100
Visiontek Geforce MX
SMC 10/100
Fortissimo sound card

Any help would be great!!

oh another problem I have is that I used to be able to d/l like multiple files under explorer.. but now it only does three.. and anything else would be quequed.. any ideas??

Something you don't see mentioned to much is that the KT7 can be sensitive to noise spikes generated by the fan plugged into the cpu fan header. You can try moving another fan to this header, one that does more than 2000RPM. If that doesn't work, I've found that resetting the bios with the jumpwer on the motherboard can solve some strange behavior. Make sure that afterwards you at least go into the bios in the softmenu3 and make the cpu the same freqency as it's supposed to be.

THnx Pederv,

I am going to go look into that..

Could you clarify this more..

"Make sure that afterwards you at least go into the bios in the softmenu3 and make the cpu the same freqency as it's supposed to be."

I am not sure what you mean by this... can you explain further what frequency that you are talking about?? THnx!

Even if your computer posts with the speed of your cpu it may not be set to that speed in the bios's softmenuIII. If you go into the bios, then into softmenuIII, your first option is to set the speed on your cpu. User defined won't work unless your cpu is unlocked, but if you have a Duron 600 it may only say 500, use pageup or pagedown to change it to 600. This in itself has cause peculiar problems to arise(not having the numbers match).

I've had this kind of problem once when I put together a machine for
my son. The motherboard was touching the case and occasionally
suddenly rebooting or not even starting. A little adjustment inside
the case (plus a little masking tape) and everything worked fine...
