I have a sony G520p and am getting color patches on screen. Like on some areas of the screen, the color of text is different. It turns the black text thats on the area into Teal. I am using a GF4 4600.

Is there a speaker or unshielded magnet close to the monitor? I would also try to degauss the monitor.

Check all connections and that no part of the SVGA cable is crimped or bent over itself. Also, try reseating the vid card. Beyond that, I have no other suggestions. Possible RMA to Sony if it's withing warranty. Good Luck!

:(

I tried anbotehr vid card same thing. Then I tried the DVI slot and still the same. It only appears on the desktop and a lot more noticeable in black bg with white text. At first I thouhgt it was the card but then I tried my oter card and it wasn't. I tried moving the wires around and what not. Funny thing is it doesn't affect the title bar text only certain text. And when I draga window, I can see a color gradient as I look at the text. If it's the monitor why is it happening only on the desktop?

Extremely odd. Open up an application like Word or Wordpad, maximize it, and type in text or open a document. Resize it and move it around the screen. Does the pattern follow the text or is it always in the same spot. If it follows it around start digging around in your settings. Try changing the refresh rate and color depth. I'm grasping at straws here too. Good Luck.

Oh, is the cable to the monitor near any source of power or potential interference?

The pattern is always in the same spot. And strangely I don't see it in msword. The problem does appear in the tool bar though (font selection menu etc)! I mainly see it on webpages and certain programs. The cable of the monitor is about 3 ft away from the surge protector.

Actually on second thought its everywhere just easier to notice on certain text!

Nope no thunderstorms lately :( We don't get much storms here.

Mindless1 will host the picture for me to better describe my problem. Hopefully theres a fix without me having to send this 80lbs thing to sony!

Bah don't have one of those :\

Any other idea what the problem would be? Is it the monitor?

Take the monitor to a friend's computer and try it. Or take your PC to a friend's house and try it with that monitor.

I am beginning to think the monitor is bad or has a problem. Try swapping and see what you come up with.
