Weird cat behavior

Background: This cat showed up at my house close to a year ago. He was big, now he's a huge black fuzzy bastard.

He's gently as can be to people. If I let him in the house, he goes after my blankets...kneeding and biting for like the last hour. If I lie down with him, he kneads me with his claws really hard then will latch on to my neck with his teeth...still purring the whole time.

Was he just not socialized properly in his youth or maybe he's nuts? He's really good natured and sweet, but I just wonder why he does this. Any ideas?

He's regressing to kittenhood when he would nurse at his mother. He feels comfortable and safe.

I'm used to a bit of regression, but his is just off the charts. I just wonder if he was seperated too soon or something bad happened, given his atypical behavior. Still, no matter what, he's going with me when I move. I love him to death. He's currently relaxing on my couch...which is covered in blankets because I think declawing is inhumane. Several countries have outlawed it...how would you like getting lopped off at your last knuckle?

well male cats do bite at the neck when they are mating. He sounds a little messed up. Cat's purr when they get hit by cars too. It's not just pleasure.

Learn to read the tail

if it is standing straight up it is a greeting
if he is swatting it back and forth he is irritated
if he lays it on you then thats a sign he wants to be pet or hang out - affection

My Nephew had a Cat just like that. If you held him he'd suckle on your shirt leaving a wet spot. He was the Runt of the litter, always being pushed aside during feeding and was a scrawny little kitten. I suspect it was psychological issues resulting from his youth.
