Weird car problem

Doesn't matter if it is in drive or reverse, the tire doesn't spin at all. I can move but the tire just slides. Nothing seems to be stuck around the tire. Is the brake stuck? Looking for some possible reasons...help me atot!

Happened to my car once. Bent calipers. I don't remember, but I want to say it was about $100/wheel.

Sheesh, is that per wheel? It's only one wheel that's causing problems. I have no idea what a wheel bearing is...gotta google it up.

FWD Dodge Neon with 112K miles on the odo. I am gonna jack up the car and see if I can get some more details. But it's 21F here in MI >:-O

Just a frozen wheel, take off the wheel cover, have someone in the car put it in gear and smack the steel wheel whith a big hammer. Not no whimpy hammer, and if you dont have a good size hammer got get one, little dinky nail hammer will not do and dont be afraid to smack that sucker hard.

Not uncommon with the Dodge Neons, they build up rust in the drums in a few hours and squeak and grind when you first take off almost every day. That with it cold and moist outside and stuck city, so a couple good whacks while its in gear and someone is giving it a little gas and it will break free.

Cost: A hammer

At that temp, it might be a frozen wheel (axle) bearing.

Won't be able to put it in gear b/c its fwd and the rear wheel is stuck but I'll try wiggling it or something. It's really odd, it happened less than a block from my house so I drove it but realized later the wheel was stuck. It felt like the trans was bout to die.

You can still stick it in drive or reverse, have a friend one foot on the gas a little one over the brake so when you whack it free can apply it.

I take it what I said made no sense to you 😕

One person in car, running, in drive or reverse, stuck wheel should hold car in place, you outside car with BFH (Big Fvcking Hammer 😉) Smacking wheel till it becomes unstuck, once unstuck friend in car hits brakes to keep car from rolling, puts car in park, you both jump around pounding on chest for your manly men who beat on car with hammer make it move. And your done.

/Thread 🙂
