I'm having a weird problem w/ an Intel D815EEA motherboard. Read on and please let me know if you have any suggestions.

RIG: Enlight EN-7233 case, Intel D815EEA motherboard, Intel P3-1GHz FC-PGA, 2 x Kingston PC133 128MB DIMMs, Aureal Vortex SQ2500, 10/100 Intel LAN port on mobo, Creative RivaTNT-based AGP card.

PROBLEM: Whenever the machine is initially powered up, the fans spin and drives power up etc. etc., but it doesn't even initialize video and just hangs up completely. However, if I then hit the reset button it does what you'd normally expect after hitting reset: it springs to life normally and boots properly. So why won't this beast power up properly without requiring a reset?

Can't think of what BIOS setting would be causing something like that as this isn't really a highly tweakable overclocker-type board. Still, you may have a point so maybe I'll play around with some of the settings tomorrow AM.

It's particularly frustrating because my server Homer uses the same board without problems...

Thanks PCAddict. I flashed up to the most recent BIOS when I built the box, and since then I've been checking that Intel support page religiously, but no dice...

If that is the case, I'd RMA the board and get another. It sounds to me like a possible problem regarding the ATX power circuitry on the board.

lmao, i have the exact same problem, after reading this thread I called my wholesaler and the techy there said, unplug the atx switch that starts the system up and use a screw driver to start the system, so i crossed the 2 pins that stick out where the 2 wire power cable hooked up used to be and the system started.

The techy was right, the front power switch was screwed. *phew*

now i gotta get a new switch!

here i thought it was the motherboard !!! *phew*

Give that a try TonDef, rip that cover off your computer and let us know.

Ouch! No dice. I hooked up the reset switch to the power jumper (and just for grins, hooked up the power switch to the reset jumper). I'm having the same problem, I just have to hit different buttons :) Now the reset button turns it on, and I have to punch the power button after that in order to get the thing to boot. Sigh... I guess it's time to call Intel support.
