Sulfur like smells indicate the presence of H2S. The breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen will cause this. This should *NEVER* happen in any potable water system!!! If the water tests positive for microbes, consuming it can lead to G.I. outbreaks or worse. Proper sterilisation by your manicipal supplier should not allow this to happen. Adequately treated water will not allow slime to form and is not condusive to the formation of algae growth. Ask neighbors if they are experiencing similar issues.
