Weird Battlefield 2 Problem

A friend of mine is having a really strange problem with Battlefield 2. We did a fresh install to try to remedy it, but we still get an error stating he needs to revert to the latest official version of battlefield 2 everytime he tries to join a server.

Now right next to that PC, we have a PC that we installed Battlefield on, ran the same v1.41 patch, and it works fine.

Any ideas why we're getting this error?
 
I got this problem a while back on my old computer. BF2 would only work under the account it was installed under, I'm not sure if this is the case with your friend's computer though.
 
What do you mean? You input a CD key when you install it, not an account... But this guy has his own CD, key and account.

I did too, but for some reason, unless I was playing on the account it was installed on, it would get that error.
