i just picked up bf2 the other day at best buy, it was only 10 bucks and i was bored. anyhow when it starts up i get a black screen for 40-60 seconds then it starts the intro videos; i tried deleting those videos but it still just hangs for about a minute then it goes to the options screen. any idea what is causing this, the game works fine, its just that nothingness when i start the game really sucks.

Did you download and install the latest patch? I think the latest is 1.41. I would try installing/reinstalling the patch. I had this issue one time, but was only after I started using a no-cd patch....if you're using one of these then I would say that is the culprit. This game has been a little buggy here and there since it came out, but for me it got more buggy after the no-cd deal.

So yeah, if using no-cd, put the original .exe and .dll files back. 2) If that doesn't work, install latest patch. 3)If that doesn't work reinstall the entire game. 4) If that doesn't work, go blast some watermelons with a 12Ga. shotgun, and attempt to catch the still tasty flying chunks, to vent your frustrations.

Here is a complete Tweak Guide for BF2 that I have used. Read through it. Very useful. Uninstall the game, reinstall it and follow the guide.

Heh, thus why I refer to it as Bugglefield 2.

Although I personally haven't ever had that many problems with it. :)

System specs, plz.

Sounds like it really is just loading the game. Before I upgraded my computer a couple years ago it would take about 20 secs to start up... now it takes about 5. How's your internet connection? Good? Fast? Decent?

Also make sure you aren't running any other programs and such.

don't delete the movie files, rather rename the .bik to something else like .backup. Read that tweakguide that zerocool posted. BF2 isn't buggy, its just not compatible with old crappy built systems. Been playing it for a long time now, and had no problems.

haha, not buggy... lol

bf2 is more sensitive to memory then any game i've ever seen, if you have like, 1 corrupted. bit, it'll crash. It can't handle anything at all even slightly odd about any memory whatsoever
