Weird battery issues Galaxy S3

This phone works like normal(besides the battery) and does not have water damage but the battery acts crazy. It drains faster than normal and sometimes after it dies I can power it on again and it will show to have a good charge. Here lately though I can leave it on the charger all night and it will not get past high 40's charge. It acted this way on stock and I rooted it and put a rom on it and it still acts up, any suggestions?

Hmm, is it an LTE s3? My GF has an S3 Lte and the battery would exhibit similar issues until I took it off LTE mode.

"Different" as in a brand new battery from a reputable OEM? (Not some $3 fleabay purchase, but the real deal?)

Otherwise I'd say the same thing: get a *NEW* OEM battery.

Is the usb port bad? My usb port doesn't always charge any more. It is every specific on which cable I use and the angle that it is in the port. I just use wireless charging now and that resolved my issues.

Turn off LTE and see if that helps.

I know you already said that you tried a different battery, but I would get a new battery (a good one, not a fake OEM one). I recently get Anker battery and it has been acting great. The fact that it can't charge pass 40% means it is either a bad/old battery or the usb port is broken.
