Your "friend" appears to enjoy scamming people who believe in crap like this:

"I shone the light into the door and pulled it open. I swear to god I'm not crazy, and this is what I saw. There below me on the steps was Baron slowly walking up on two legs, one of my kitchen knives in his paws, scraps of other animals hanging off him. I yelled at the top of my lungs and shut the door, but it bounced back open. I was already several yards away, running upstairs for my guns. In my bedroom, the moonlight filtered through my curtains and I quickly grabbed my 870 and prepared to charge back down. I felt prickles on my neck and turned to see the eyes outside my window. They winked out into nothing with an unearthly moan and I left the house as fast as I could. I did not see 'Baron' on the way out."

LOL. Getting paid $305 to write a story like that and make a bear look evil is priceless. What a bunch of suckers out there.

I think "he" meant for the story to be ambiguous about whether he was going crazy or not. You could believe that that part was a hallucination.

So I take it the dead cat part wasn't real. Pity, secretly I've always hoped that demonic walking bears would kill stuff.

Tell your friend he's going to blow his cover by saying stuff like:

"I will give the full story of how the bear was subdued to the winning bidder. My aquaintances who know about this sort of thing told me it was important that someone buy it from me. Trying to give it away would not work and I have not described the two times where I took the bear to a dumpster and then a supermarket parking lot and both times found it back in my house."

To be honest though, he's a piss poor writer.

The whole story isn't particularly convincing in any way, it's not even a good read. People are bidding most likely out of blatant stupidity, or because of its novelty factor.

Props to your friend for getting some decent cash for the bear, but please, DONT let this experience convince him he has any type of writing ability.

EDIT: to put it bluntly, i could sh!t out a better read (read: write something far better in < 30 minutes). And maybe I will, if that auction goes above 1k. I'll keep you posted.

He says that in a world where Harry Potter and The DaVinci Code become best sellers, he could do fine.

Seems like this is a trend that is picking up these days. I remember an article somewhere about someone selling a haunted NES :p

$300 for half an hour of work is pretty good.

He probably doesn't believe it himself. People write this stuff up so they can sell worthless crap to losers on ebay who would pay money for this stuff.

Your friend needs to lay off of the DXM.

Takes a lot to be having OEVs

I'm saying shrooms.

DXM is cheap, though, and when you get it in the right quantities, hey.

Heh, looks like I'm sending mixed messages here. Somebody just PMed me asking where I get my supply. :Q
