Weird artifacts every now and then on monitor, video card to blame?

Sometimes I see a flash of something while working on the computer. It's usually on the desktop. Is the video card the only thing it could be? I'm pretty sure it's causing it because the problems weren't there before. It's a generic TNT2. I'm never buying a generic card again...

Like a white line or something. I guess it's like a flicker. I don't know. It doesn't happen all the time, and it's not that big a deal. Except that I know it's there.

Card is not overclocked. I've overclocked it before, but I have it set at the default speeds. I think it's just a crappy video card.

it appears to be a memory issue if my memory serves... that is, problems with the card's RAM.

white dots during a game is a problem when overclocking RAM not desktop flicker. It may just be your moniter refreshing (right click on your desktop and select refresh to see if you have the same effect). lower cost OEM boards by manufacturers such as AbsoluteMM have been know to use lower quality 2d-circuitry in their boards.
