weird A7N8X-E problem

the AGP Aperture is set at 64mb in BIOS. in CPUZ it says its at 32mb. when i go into bios and change it to 128mb, the system won't POST and i have to clear the CMOS and reset it back to 64mb...why?

i have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB card @ 8x AGP

I'm just guessing ... but did you change video cards from something to the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro.? And if you did ... did you remove COMPLETELY the old video card drivers before loading the new drivers ??? There is (was) a freebie program called 'driver cleaner', which does a good job of cleaning out bits and pieces that the 'windows' driver program leaves behind. I had it on my favorites tree, but it's disappeared. Maybe 'google' will have it.
Good luck.

Does it POST when you reset cmos and it's at 64mb ? If it does post and lets you get to the OS; then go to Control Panel> System>Hardware>Device Manager> +Display adapter> right clik your vid card, select properties> 'driver' tab and 'Uninstall'. Reboot and then reinstall your Driver. If that doesn't work... you may need a BIOS update to a version that allows Radeon 9700 Pro.
