weightlifting

Which is better, lifting heavy every 3 days (due to muscle soreness) or lifting lighter everyday (assuming you work out at home and don't need to go to a gym so theres no hassle to do it everyday)

So which would be better to gain muscle and bulk up?

lift heavy or go home. Even lifting heavy is better for toning that light weight high reps. I'm not saying max out all the time, but at least make sure youre putting in an effort.

lift more than 3 days a week once you become accustomed to the soreness as well

Traditionally you lift heavier and do lighter amounts of cardio to bulk up and you lift lighter and do more cardio to get "cut up."

Weight = fighting gravity.

You cannot win. Give in to the dark side. The weight is the dark side of your soul not exposed to the light of day. You hide it, yet you canot run from it.

You lifting weights = you trying to run from your past = you fighting gravity = you cannot win.

Just eat a pizza and take a nap; it'll all be clearer in the morning.

Lift heavy and give yourself plent of recovery time in between. Lifting every day never lets your recover and you'll injure yourself.

Bump that. Plus, dont forget to eat. The majority of the battle is in the kitchen. You can go and lift all the time, but if you arent gettin the protein, you might as well not lift in the first place. If you are serious about bulking up try to get at least 1g protein per lb of bodyweight.

I'm just into the weightloss personally...i work out every other/2 days, and ive cut down to water every day (minus one day where i can drink one pop) and i eat 2 times a day as opposed to 3 and take vitamins in place of the other meal...sometimes i'll only eat once if i wake up real late...

haha funny but the stronger you are the more you actually CAN win against gravity. See lifting means you did actually defeat gravity.

Now your pizza eating nap taking weak ass is the one that cannot win against gravity.

Your logic = the fux0red
your weakness = you cannot win against gravity

you cannot hide using bad logic, you cannot run, you're potatowned

Honestly, eating just once a day to lose weight isn't the best route. Best route is to count calories for a week where your weight is stable. Divide by 7 to get maintenace calories per day. Then just eat under that amount. Start by eating 100 calories under a week, then 200 under, then 300 under, etc. Toss in some cardio to burn more calories than you are eating too. 3 small meals spaced out>1 meal....keeps the metabolism going, plus your body gets its nutrients throughout the day rather than all in one meal.

you're doing yourself a disservice by eating less, you have to eat healthier, NOT eat only 1-2 times a day

Meh, I know juicers that say 2g per lb is minimum. But then again, they are on gear so their views are slighty skewed towards their requirements.

it is, but with the help of protein shakes, it becomes easier. Hell, there are people that take 2-3g or even more protein for every lb of body weight. I'm at the 1:1 mark right now, get about 170-190g of protein per day. I weigh 180

not good, you will lose a lot of muscle that way and it isn't really healthy overall. you should be eating more smaller meals per day, not fewer.

To give you an idea, i was lifting to the point of muscle fatigue, 10 reps, then I switched to a higher weight and can only do 5 before my muscle gives out. But after doing the 5 routine I got sore to the point where i couldnt do anymore and had to give it a rest for 2 days.

So maybe I should switch to the weight that i can do 10 on?

Well thats why i was addin in the vitamins, the meal i'm skipping out on includes drinking a meal shake (eg: slimfast)

depends on how many sets you are doing per exercise and how many sets total. Though building muscle is definetly not an exact science. You will have to try many different workout methods and diets to find what you need to do to grow the best.

If you want to lose weight I'm thinking more frequent but smaller meals help curb your appetite but still give you good nutritiion, and you need cardio to burn fat right? But you also need anerobic (weighlifting) to build muscle which helps burn fat too

Well im somewhat prepping for the winter...during the winter i iceskate 3 days a week...at least, and i dont necessarily have to wait for winter, it is whenever the ice arena on campus opens...ive never dieted and worked out/ cardio'ed in a combo before...people say i dont really look fat (i ask to for them to guess my weight, most common response is 180/190, i weigh nearly 220), and i am very strong as compared to my looks, i just wanna trim down for personal reasons

Heavy for mass, lighter for tones or cut..You should rest at least 48hrs after a very heavy workout.24hrs for a lighter one..You should also use a split system workout.

I'm a personal trainer.

You've got to go Heavy to gain mass

light and daily is more for someone who wants to just tone up and lose some weight.

The hardcore guys at the gym go for the former routine
with supplements like high protein, and muscle mass supplement type tabs.
No roids!!

No No!
