Hehe, we should start a weight lifting AT Club. Maybe a place where we can post before and after pics, only members can get the password to view

Yeah, if someone wants to make it, i'll join :D either that or petition for a fitness section in the forums.

No problem. Dave's wife Laree moderates the forum. Some beginners, some intermediates and some advanced post there.

I have a related question... what can you guys here do for dumbell presses? I realize I still have a long ways to go, but I'm a 190lb 6" guy who just really started lifting a year or so ago, and I just barely got up to doing a set of 10 using 95lb dumbells. I realize that it's much harder to do dumbell then benching, but it's very significantly less... just checking to see if I'm at a reasonable level or not.

You're doing well... I'm 8 lbs heavier and rep with 110's.

That's a neat idea. I don't know if there would be enough demand though?

Any volunteers to create a website for us ATOT lifters?

That's pretty good. I rep with 80 on incline press, but only cause my Ironmaster quickchange dumbbell plate system only goes to 80lb. Need to get the extension, just don't want to shell out 400 bucks for it.

I'm the same weight/height, btw.

Yeah you are pretty strong. Repping more then bw is good for a start.

I'm at 168 pretty lean and I rep at 165 for 6reps and 5 sets. Not tested a max yet recently but I will in a next week to see what I can get. I hit 176lbs 4 months ago when I was repping on about 132lbs. Don't really bench much.

I'm an O-lifter so Snatch and Clean and Jerk.

Snatch 198lbs
C&J 242lbs

I do a lot of squats and hit 319lbs to rock bottom. Almost 2x bodyweight :D
Deadlift = 352lbs which is pretty good but nothing compared to a PL.

Also it is technically weight training and not weightlifting. Weightlifting = Snatch and C&J only and is an Olympic sport......

The bigger you are the less efficient you are at getting a good strength to weight ratio. Yes you can shift more absolute weight but a smaller guy will whoop your strength to weight ratio. Just dimenishing returns for a larger guy compared to %. Hence Gymnast are tall in hight as you can 't really compete well at the top if your 6"5!

Yup, I had bad form once on deadlifts and pulled a hip flexor and adjoining muscles in my lower back. It hurt just to walk down steps and knocked me out of the gym for a good month.

Yes, also when deadlifting and you lose control, have you ever had the bar tear up your shins? I used to walk around the gym with blood gushing from my shins until I switched over to sumo style (all people with shorter arms should do this).

LOL!!! That's me!! I learned to put a pad on the bar while deadlifting to save my shins. Two weeks in a row of bloody shins was all it took.

Funny how you feel NOTHING while it's happening, huh?

you just need to build up some scar tissue!

at a powerlifting meet over the weekend i saw a guy deadlift with duct tape on both shins.

Wow that's hardcore... I used to try and wear sweatpants but they just got in the way... it's hard to control a weight in that position w/out ripping shins up :)
