ughh, just got the call, hay is on its way. I may not be able to bench 200 pounds, but I sure as hell am going to get a workout tonight. 200 bales, ~50-60 pounds each. A nice start to haying season.

Sounds like my saturday mornings unloading the truck at work.

50 boxes of fries, 42 pounds each.
45 cases of meat, 42 pounds each.
35 boxes of chicken, 39 pounds each.
5 boxes of potatoes, 56 pounds.

Not fun at 6AM.

Gotta say, working the shipping line at a hardware distribution center was back breaking some times. Boxes of nails are way heavier than they look.

Tell the goats they have to pitch in and help.

I use to work at Lowe's doing receiving. I always thought everything was palletized coming off a truck. :(

I remember haying season. Most of the bales we did were the half ton bales so we used the tractor and a flat bed trailer but there were always a couple fields of small bales. Hot summer afternoons walking through the fields loading the trailer trying to avoid rattle snakes and being exhausted as all hell by the time we were done.

The only part that I don't enjoy is that I don't have the equipment yet, i.e. a hay elevator. I don't mind carrying and lifting the bales, but starting with bales at ground level, and finally stacking them around 25-30 feet up, that's the labor part. Son #1 is on his way to Denver, son #2 is at work. So I get to throw them into the loft, then I get to climb up into the loft, then throw them up again as I stack them.
