I've got a 20lb weighted vest that I usually wear when I'm at the gym or doing push ups. I started wearing it under my uniform just to walk around with while at work.

But...is there any point in just wearing it when walking around? Are the benefits even worth the effort of having the bulky thing on?

It's good for dips. Maybe chins too? I'm not sure if I would be walking around with it on. Doesn't sound too comfortable.

Then again my friends in the military describe their 20 mile marches with full gear on and that prepared them for war so why not?

That's one of the things that has me concerned. The unit I've been working with doesn't do ruckmarches so I rarely get to carry the extra weight. I suppose adjusting to carrying an extra 20lbs could help (even though our rucks + gear are usually way over that).
