Update: June 2, 2005

I didn't start making any real changes until a week ago. I was 232 when I started, I'm now 229.

I'm going to the gym 4 days a week.

My goal is to lose about 2 lbs a week. I would love to reach 200 by September, but that will take some dedication.

Good luck!

I have a similiar story. My weight when I graduated high school in 1997 was 255. Exactly 2 years later, my weight was 205. Three years later, my weight was almost 240. One year later I was 210. Now I'm holding between 215 and 220.

You can do eeeeet!
When I first came to college, I was about the same weight as you. A year later, I was 160lbs. I got back up to 195 (knee injury stopped me from being active, not being active lead to pizza cravings :() but now I am exercising again and am slowly bringing my weight back down, currently its at 185.

Stefan,

i would recommend jogging either daily or every other day. try to run long distance one day and sprint the other. also eat healthy foods... bring your own lunch to work and also eat a light dinner. stay dedicated and you'll reach your goals!

Do more consistent daily exercise such as running, or bike riding. Keep a fixed schedule. Change your eating habits but don't do anything drastic as you'll burn yourself out that way. Remember that losing weight is a lifestyle change, not just a few month schedule and then back to your old ways.

I need to start losing a little weight my self (currently at ~200; would like to be in the 165-170 ballpark). I plan on getting a membership to the gym as soon as I land a job. I already do a lot of the simple stuff like taking the stairs, parking away from the building (or just plain walking, if it's close enough), etc.

Hey guys I'm on my track for weight loss and have lost 72 lbs so far! Lately I've been running a lot more, but get shin splints. I bought some Nike running shoes which help, but any way to lessen the pain?

Stretch! Seriously, I think if I had stretched more in the past, I would not have injured my knee. I've found that the best time to do it is right after exercising when your muscles are still warm. I know a lot of people think just 1-5 minutes is enough, but really it's not and doing 15-20 minutes is much better.

 for weight loss! Im 6'3" and started out early March at 263.5Ibs, today im 239.5Ibs and steadily losing 2Ibs a week. I dont do much exersize to be honest, but ive really sorted out my eating habits (cut out the junk food etc). I hope to get down just below 200 (a good weight for my height and build)

I didn't mention it, but going for a run/bike ride is part of my workout... I'd like to do cardio at least 5 days a week. I usually get 4 at the gym and I'd like to do some running outside as well. I need to buy some new running shoes though.

Update: June 27, 2005

Well, after my first hard week, I ended up getting sick for about 2 weeks. That took away all my energy and motivation to go to the gym. I've been sedentary for almost a month now and have gone back to 232 lbs. I'm going back to the gym today.

YGPM!

Good luck and good job on taking the important step of admitting that you are a fat bastard.

It's really not that hard if you just tell yourself that you HAVE to stick with it. I have stuck with it for almost 2 years now.

LOL, my thoughts exactly. You need to eat 3 lunches! I eat breakfast, pre-lunch, Lunch, post lunch, post workout, dinner, before bed meal. (7 total)
