Weight gain shake occaisonally causing bowel problems

I've been drinking EAS Mass Factor for 10 days now. Once every 3 days or so, I will get lots and lots of gas, followed by bowel movements. Anyone know how to avoid this?

Please serious responses only.

Um, stop taking weight gainer and try eating? Bowel problems are common when you're first starting to consume large amounts of protein, b/c your body doesn't know how or what to do with that much.

It's hard to get that much high efficiency protein by eating normal foods, not to mention costly.

It's called normal protein shakes. Weight gainer is for the lazy.

<---- used to be 140, now 180 through working out.

Your body type might not be conducive to gaining weight, but if you're Asian, (and iirc, you are) that's something you have to deal with. (I am too)

Keep weight lifting and exercising so you body utilizes all that protein. Otherwise, you're just going to end up with massive dumps while your metabolism will not slow down.

I weight lift 3-4 times a week.
Yesterday when I was getting these problems + lack of sleep + stress, I felt my lungs tighten and my heartrate jump up. :Q

Yes I'm lazy and poor :p.
I can't make 5 meals a day. I make 2 meals a day and take the weight gainer. Saves a lot of time and money, not to mention more effective, just the occaisional pains.

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but you're not getting "high efficienty protein" through a protein shake. Weight gainers are crap.

Nevermind the fact that your body can only absorb about 30 grams of protein within an hour's time. Any more and it passes through. If you want quality protein, eat fish or chicken. If you want to do it right, you'll take the time to make meals ahead of time and eat them during the day. Take it from a trainer, what you're doing is not helping much.

If you're smart, you can make meals that cost less than a single shake, and that are infinitely better for you.

I just visited the site you linked. That stuff is CRAP. 23 grams of protein you can get by drinking a large glass of milk. You can get that many carbs by eating a small apple. Why would anyone spend money on that garbage?

EDIT: It has creatine in it? And they recommend up to 4 doses a day? That would be 20 grams of creatine a day. That's rediculous. Any more than 5 grams passes through your body, or it gets caught up in your kidneys and liver, and can cause serious damage. Absolute crap. And you wonder why you have gastrointestinal problems.

Try to split the portions up so you aren't drinking like 50g of protein at a time. Your body isn't used to having such large amounts of liquid protein. In my experience if you use 1/2 serving as suggested on the container and try mixing with milk for added calories.

BEEFCAKE!!!!

I use one cup of soy milk and one teaspoon of peanut butter with two scoops(half serving) of the shake.
Comes out to be around 40g of protein per half serving.
I usually drink a cup in the afternoon and a cup at night after I work out.
One serving is two cups anyways, so it works perfectly.

I'm lactose intolerant. Plus one cup of milk a 8grams not 23 grams. So I would have to drink 7 cups of milk a day. I don't know where you're from where one "large glass" holds 7 cups.
An apple DOES NOT have 96grams of carbs. Your bs is really stinking up the thread.

Are you really that stupid? One half pint of milk has 9 grams of protein. I said a "large glass of milk". Where exactly did I say that a large class holds 7 cups of milk? Did you read what I said before pulling crap outta your ass? I said an apple is all you need IN PLACE of a shake. Did I say an apple has "96 grams" of carbs? No. Reading is fundamental.

Don't be a dumbass. I wouldn't expect much from you, though, considering you're stupid enough to spend money on crap like this. You're the type of person who would buy crap on an infomercial because it looks good on TV. Idiots like you are the reason why crap supplement companies like EAS are still in business. I'm not worried though, in 2 years your kidneys and liver will be as hard as a rock, you'll be on Dialysis and EAS will have one less customer.

Skim milk + protein powder if you want to gain muscle and stay leaner (more popular)
Whole milk + weight gain powder if you just want to gain weight and don't care what kind.

I went through a 10lb tub of N-Large mixing with whole milk. I think I gained 10 pounds in a month. Although much of it was in fact fat. I could just as well have bought protein powder and mixed it with a couple scoops of full fat ice cream ;)

You're quick to call names, like a playground schoolboy.
You inferred that the apple has 96grams of carbs when you said you can get as many carbs by eating a small apple. If you read the site, one serving of the shake has 96grams of protein.
Go take your own fùcking reading advice and get the fûck out of this thread.

Again you show your math/spelling skills(the lack of thereof). One serving has 5 grams. No one takes 4 servings of the shake a day. And 20 grams of creatine a day isn't ridiculous. If you buy the pure creatine shakes, you take 3-4 servings of 10grams of creatine.
Good bye.

Yea, I use a protein powder from the Vitamine Shoppe, Body Tech (their own brand), which costs about $17 and lasts a good 2.5 months. I mix it with Skim milk, maybe twice a day. That's all you need for supplements. Weight gainers are all useless IMO. If you want to gain weight, you need to eat more often and include a good amount of protein with each meal. People think it's difficult to eat 6 small meals a day, when in fact it's very easy. You can go to Costco and buy a large bag of frozen fat free chicken breats and have enough meals for a week with just that. Plus, you won't spend obscene amounts of money supplementing meals.

Salt is good for the soul
Not to mention all the chemicals they must've used to make the meat fat free.

"Recommended Use: For a delicious rich shake add 3 scoops of Mass Factor to 12 to 14 ounces of cold water or milk and blend for 30 seconds. For best results consume 2-4 servings daily. "

You said it yourself, one serving is 5 grams of creatine. 2-4 servings is 10-20 grams a day. Did I say 'you' use that much? I was commenting on the product. Again, reading is fundamental.

"46g of Energizing Carbohydrates"

This is what I was reading. An apple is about 30-40 grams of carbs, depending on the size. Also:

"I use one cup of soy milk and one teaspoon of peanut butter with two scoops(half serving) of the shake."

So a full serving is 96 grams of cabs, yet you take a half serving. What's half of 96? About as many carbs as is in an apple. Wow... I'm amazed.

"And 20 grams of creatine a day isn't ridiculous. If you buy the pure creatine shakes, you take 3-4 servings of 10grams of creatine."

Of course, since you spend money on this crap, you'd take what the label reads as gospel. Your body can only retain 5 grams of creatine at a time. Do some research. Of course, if the label says you should take 10 or 20 grams a day, then it MUST be right! They'd NEVER want you to use their product faster so you'd spend more money. What company would do that? GASP! Note the sarcasm, 'cus you seem to be a little slow.

The mere fact that you started a thread complaining about gastrointestinal problems is amusing, considering it's your own stupidity that's causing it.

Pwn'd.

The site's serving suggestions is for the wrong product.
Read the recommended usage under the nutritional facts.

Oh my god... don't even try.

Your crappy protein shake = 75 mg cholesterol, 45 calories from fat, Total fat 4 grams
Skinless chicken breast = 15 mg cholesterol, 1 calorie from fat, Total fat 0.2 grams

Thanks for proving my point, dumbass.

Also, chicken breast is inherently low in fat. If you pull the fat off, it won't have any fat on it. Novel concept, no?

Um look at the site's information and compare it to the one on the label.
Serving size 3scoops (87g)
vs Serving size 4 scoops(166g)
Nice job owning yourself again, moron.

Where to begin with this misinformation? Yes, you can get 23 grams of protein, but that's CASEIN protein, whereas EAS uses a WHEY protein concentrate for mass building. There's a huge difference between the two, it's evident that you cannot discern between proteins that are more efficient for mass building.

Second, show me a link to a study that proves that creatine can cause "serious damage". Then you proceed to correlate three entirely different areas of the body, the kidney/liver/GI Tract as the target of creatine's damage?? lol If you are a doctor or a nurse then hell hath just frozen over.

The real reason he is having bowel problems is because of the Lactose in the powder, many companies like Optimum Nutrition add the Lactase enzyme to their formula for easier digestion. I would recommend using ON's whey powder, you will have much less "cleansing" because of the lactase.

Chicken breasts and tuna are great ways to build lean muscle mass, however it's impossible to get your daily protein needed (2g per 1lb of person's weight for someone bodybuilding) without taking protein shakes. They complement each other very nicely IMO.

But how do you know there is lactose in the powder? I'm lactose intolerant, and this seems like a good explaination.
