This has been an exciting week, in case you missed it. 🙂
1.) The biggest excitement is that our 11th Annual Folding Competition (coming up in December) now features not only internal teams racing each other, and not only a full-duration race against hardwarecanucks, but now we will be racing against Tom's Hardware as well, for the first week, in a site-supported children's charity event!!!
2.) Not excited yet? How about discussion of a front page announcement at both Tom's and AT? Yeah, distributed computing should gain some new recruits as a result! That's always good news to me.
3.) Although I always hated being called out and introduced to the class/group, I'm going to call out and introduce iwajabitw, who has been active in the forums this week, and has joined the Annual Folding Competition, and will be aiming a 12 thread i7 5820K and a pair of GTX980's at the competition.
iwajabitw may be known to some of you, but (I think) new to me, and was an active folder some 15 years ago, and fluent in BOINC as well. So welcome friend! It's a good time to start heating the house. 😀
4.) Do be careful heating the house with the computers though...the sub-forum has had Smoke in a few of them. 😉 And if I read that correctly, Smoke has joined the TeAm for the Folding race too!!

PS: [TA]Assimilator1 you may be glad to know I have shut the valve on my supposed direct pipe to LHC, so maybe now you can have a steady supply too. 😉 My CPUs now concentrate on finding a cure/vaccine for the Zika epidemic (World Community Grid), with up to 26 VM's running for vLHC as well.

Distributed Computing is where you allow your computing device (smartphones/tablets included) to work on things like medical research, mathematical stuff, sifting through telescope data to further the field of Astronomy, and many other 'citizen science' projects. It allows networked computers to band together to act as a supercomputer. And you should join us.
