I'll start :)

This is an awesome drink.

2 Parts Silver Tequila (Patron or Don Julio's are best, 1800 is good, whatever you like, so long as it's not a plastic-bottle liver-puncher)

1 Part Patron Citronge (can substitute Cointreau, or in a pinch, a decent Triple Sec, not the 30-proof crap though)

1 Part Ginger Ale

Squeeze of lime

Serve chilled, I don't recommend rocks (dilutes as the ice melts)

Good serving size is about 12 ounces, 6 ounces Tequila, 3 ounces Citronge, 3 ounces Ginger ale.

Yours?

Right now I'm having:

1 Part tequila
1 part campari
.5 sweet vermouth
.5 dry vermouth
dash of orange bitters

Little too much vermouth, but it's a perfect summer drink. The tequila and campari complement each other very well.

Beer FTW.

I like a good beer. Belhaven, Boddington's, XXXX, Shiner 100, and so on.

But 12 beers and I'm only mildly buzzed, and that's if it's really good beer. A few good mixed drinks and I'm all smiles, without the feeling that I'm stuffed off of beer.

Very interesting! Do you have brand recommendations?

For the tequila, anything that is 100% agave.
Any campari imported from italy is a good bet.
The Dolin brands of vermouth are decent, but any will do. Just stay away from martini and rossi.

An awesome drink I thought up last week that I'm about to pour again:

1.5 parts pineapple juice (you can go with 2, but it tends to be too pineapple-y for me)
1 part domaine de canton ginger liqour :)heart: this stuff)
1 part vodka
Dash of orange or pear/peach bitters

I couldn't believe how delicious it was. Gonna make huge batches of it this summer as everyone loved it.

I have a lot of military buddies, and I think it's easier to build up a beer tolerance than it is for liquor. It makes it hard, as some beers are very foamy, and it makes it a challenge to drink enough to start feeling much of anything.

I do love the taste of some beers though, especially with certain meals. Shiner Bock with a good Pizza, or Beck Dark with some Schnitzel and potatoes, etc.

rofl. What do you think of Johnnie Walker Blue? I've only had it twice, but it was mind-blowingly good. Not worth the $$, imho, but really really damned good.

I mostly stock Bourbon, Vodka and seltzer. I need to expand into more diverse territory and pick up some accessories... I've been wanting to get the stuff you need to make and old fashioned, which are pretty yummy.

Is this what you mean? http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink407.html

Sounds interesting to say the least .. I find it fascinating how sometimes when you look at the ingredients to a drink, it's like W_T_F, how does that taste good? But it does .. a prime example being Long Islands / Texas Tea.

I think it's great. For someone of my income level, 1 bottle is enough for a long time just to have the experience. I can't afford to buy it regularly, but I'm happy to have had it.

Yup that's the one. And yeah, no kidding... I didn't even realize that had sugar in it

I was mostly intimidated by the 'bitters', but I finally looked it up and apparently it's just an herb-infused liquor. Maybe I'll stop by BevMo tomorrow...

Love me a Makers Mark Old Fashioned. Classic classy drink.

Bitters is just a mix of various herbs & fruits, BTW. No liquor in it. Would NOT recommend drinking a shot glass full of it, no matter how much money is offered - especially not only $20.

EDIT: Apparently some companies do add alcohol to theirs. The Angostura I have does not.

Yea, bitters are like the herbs and spices of a good liquor cabinet. Any good bar will have them.

You can buy a six pack of fee brothers bitters on amazon for something like $40. Text It'll last you forever and you get to try different flavors out.

Ah, I was just going off Wikipedia. Sounds like it can go either way. I'll have to see what I can dig up.

7 7 is a good summer drink. or

"The Painkiller® is a blend of Pusser's Rum with 4 parts pineapple juice, 1 part cream of coconut and 1 part orange juice served over the rocks with a generous amount of fresh nutmeg on top. You have a choice of numbers 2, 3 or 4, which designate the amount of Pusser's Rum! Cheers!"

a great drink made in a large pitcher while lounging/ grilling on the patio.
