ok, i threw this chip in. everything at default the chip is running at 34C and with 1.6V (200*10), the chip runs at 36C idle. what gives? why are these temps sooo low? the rest of the rig is in the sig

Bad or way uncalibrated motherboard sensors...

Ive got an a7n8x deluxe that shows my xp1700 @2013ghz and under full load it shows me 32c and all ive got is air cooling...

Check what the mainboard temp is on my a7n8x its about 20 degrees F off the room temp it shows me 50f when the room is 70f...

Bartons run pretty damn hot, more so than the T-Breds for sure. That 42c your used to seeing is a lie though, at that temp your suppose to add about 10 to 15c overall as that board dose not read from the internal diode. Check out the abit website boards, there's plenty of info on the topic.

buy yourself a temp probe and stick it right next to the core. see what it says then :) That's what I do...

could always get one of those vantec nexus multi function panels, has a cpu fan controller, and 3 temperature probes

i'm modding 2 of the 4 5.25 drive bays i have to fit a high CFM 80 mm fan (prolly another smartfan II) so i can only get stuff for 3.25 slots

My tbred runs 29-30c idle at default voltage and 37c idle at 1.71v, so you don't seem to far off.

My t-bred runs at 39 degrees idle and 42 at load with 1.75; I'd say you have a nice chip and no cooling worries in your future. Mine runs the same temp at 1.70 volts too btw. So no temperature jump may be OK.
