Love Muse and I had zero idea they even mentioned politics of any sort in their songs. 😕

Silly, listen to the Black Holes and Revelations album
🙂. Almost every single song has something political about it. The first and fifth songs are the most obvious but the rest have subtle messages in them. You could probably just look up the lyrics and see it too... I believe song #3 has some obvious lines if I remember correctly.
The rest of their albums seem to be fine from what I've seen, although I'm not exactly a political connoisseur, so chances that I'd miss something are high
🙂.

Between Weeds and Dexter, Showtime has two amazing shows. I love them both and could care less about subtle political messages.
Personally, I prefer Dexter and Californication over Weeds, but Weeds is still fun to watch.

See? You're lying to yourself. If you really didn't care what Muse thinks politically the songs wouldn't bother you. At most, you'd be indifferent. But no, THEY BOTHER YOU so much that you have to come here and post about it.
Wake up and smell your all pervasive politics.
The big political agenda that gets in the way of you enjoying Muse or Weeds is your own!
You are your own angry buzzkill.
I don't care what they think, but I hate the idea of people trying to use their "popularity" to push their opinion onto me. I think the same thing when an actor will start spouting off crap. I believe it was Bruce Willis who said something along the lines of, "it doesn't really matter what I think, it doesn't mean anything more than you" I can't remember the exact quote (I read it on here awhile ago), but you get the gist of what he's saying.
Who said I don't still enjoy the show or the music even though there's an agenda in there? I wrote the post because I wasn't sure exactly the way they were leaning with eco-friendliness as they had shown strong leanings toward other things in the show. I obviously don't necessarily let it get to me if my only complaint about the show after watch nearly 3 seasons is the same as ducci's (the show having no real aim anymore). Also, I still listen to Muse's Black Holes and Revelations album... it's actually pretty good if you ignore those political rants woven into song. Although, almost the entire album is full of political messages, but I try to ignore it as they're not as obvious as "You will burn in hell for your sins" (part of the first song) and a track titled like "Soldier's Poem." There are parts of songs talking about not believing what your government says... opening your mind and crap like that as well, but I still listen to those songs. That aforementioned album is the only one that's like this that I've found from Muse though.

I believe he is bothered by the fact that they are making a political stance at all - the stance being made is irrelevant.
I would tend to agree - though a lot of good music has come from political stances. Things like politics and relationships and religion bring out emotion, which bring out good art.
In the case of Weeds, it has potential to bring out good humor. But as I said in my previous post, it largely isn't done well and comes off as unnecessary. The show definitely has a bias to it, unfortunately rarely does good writing come from it.
It's also the severity of it to some extent. I don't care if it's far and few in between. Kind of like the talk of Muse above... only two songs are blatantly obvious, but the rest have lines in them that can be understood as referring to politics too. I wouldn't have minded it so much in Weeds, but Andy kept blabbing on for episodes about war for oil, being pawns of the government, etc. It wasn't subtle by any means and you're right about it not being funny. Am I supposed to find a couple kids trying to beat up Shane because he won't convert to Christianity funny? I found it more amusing how he got screwed over by Isabelle
😛.
I can easily ignore it and I obviously have if I've kept going, but do I think the show would be better without it? Yeah.
