Got a bunch of these single leaf plants coming up in the yard. I've tried the usual granular and liquid weed killers but they are impervious to it. Any idea what it is and how to deal with it?

It should be against the law to be able to buy powerful herbicides at Home Depot so regular consumers can slather them all over their lawns when they don't know if they're even going to be effective against their target. 🙁

Won't someone please think of the honeybees? 😉 I mean, I've always been against rabid use of pesticides and herbicides, but since we started keeping honeybees it has really brought how big the problem is to light.

Anyway, sorry, I don't know what kind of plant it is. 😛 If you're insistent on an herbicide you probably need something for woody plants? Are they suckers from a tree? Hard to tell with a single leaf.

Hard to tell, but is the leaf in the top picture kind of "cupped"? If so and they have purple flowers, then I'd say wild violets.

I'm dealing with them now and they are very tough to kill. I've hurt them (though, not killed yet) with triclopyr (easiest place to find it is in Weed-B-Gone Oxalis/chickweed killer). From what I've read, it takes several applications to kill the rhizome growing underground.

They are cupped and I believe there may have been a purple flower in the spring. I'll take a look at products with that active ingredient.
