weed experts...the lawn care type

I'm thinking about putting Scotts weed & feed down again. Seems like the hot weather will be over soon. Any idea if this is invading grass or a weed?

Dunno about crabgrass. Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like a grass-like plant that grows in the shady areas on my lawn. I don't know what it is, but it's soft under foot, and looks nice.

you have multiple weeds (clover, annual blue grass, possibly crabgrass) that seems to be stronger than your lawn grass... are you using any fertilizer?
is this supposed to be warm or cool season lawn grass?
Clover is usually sign of low nitrogen.

Not sure what kind of grass the house has, its been here for 50 years. The yard was a complete disaster until last year, now I don't have any bare patches but the lawn is inconsistent. This year I've put down all Scotts products step one in early spring, then weed & feed however it rained within 24 hours both times I applied it, then summer guard about 8 weeks ago. I know I have multiple patches of problems.

Use a liquid weed killer. I use Par 3 and kills everything except grass.

Wait, I'm in Ontario....not allowed to use Par 3....shit, I forgot.

It's only illegal for import for commercial use, you're fine as long as you aren't selling anything you grow.

Not sure we're on the same page 😵

It is illegal to import more powerful weed killer to ontario for commercial use, it is generally also illegal to sell there, however there is nothing stopping you legally from buying it from somewhere where it is legal, and using it for your own gardening or lawn needs.

Was not making any references to questionable growing operations.

Ahhhh. Got it. But yes, it is illegal to use it on residential properties. Upwards of a $10k fine. But you are correct in the fact that there is no law from importing from the USA as long as it has the proper poison control labels on it. WHMIS

Those looks like some invasive weeds, I would try getting rid of them as soon as possible, otherwise you might run into potential problems.

We had issues two years ago with invasive quack grass and bermuda grass, these thick, tough, broadleaf grasses that would grow in bunches. There are still a few small spots but we're having those killed and reseeded, too. There is also a new herbicide that will kill just those broadleaf grasses but not harm Kentucky bluegrass but it's expensive.

We've never had a "good" lawn before so we're investing in this one so it at least looks nice. Water bills suck though.

South TX has the worst weed problem. In my past 10 years of experience, I have found that tilling and re-sodding and then keeping the grass green and live is the best way to fend off weeds. In order to reduce watering area, dry landscaping is very useful, our local water company gives incentives to do that.

Any suggestions for a good broad grass killer. I know next year I'll put down the crab grass preventer. Ideally I'd like to get rid of most of these then reseed in late September. I do not want to start the entire lawn all over again.

I need to take pics of my lawn and post here. I've got weeds and about 3 different types of grass in my front, and my back yard is dying.

I've got a similar in my front and back yard. I could literally open by yard up to botany students to study all the types of species growing. I reseeded last year and the new grass came in fine but in July, something else moved in and took over. I'm about ready to fire bomb it.

Looks like St. Augustine grass, you didn't happen to use grass filler in that area that contained it?
