Weed Eater, Weed Whipper, Weed Whacker

Don't think I have ever made a poll before, but this seems to be a decent enough topic. Where i grew up the device was coined "Whacker", but saying that around the golf course at one of my first job they thought I was weird. There they called it a "Weed whip". Now I just read a post where they call it "Weed Eater".

So what is it? Whip, Whack, or Eat?

Where I live "Weed Eater" and "Weed Whacker" are interchangeable.

EDIT: Although I would say "Weed Eater" is the most common.

Whacker, but this kid that just moved into the neighborhood calls them Weed Eaters... he's a southern guy. Maybe its location specific like Grinder, Sub, Hoagie.

Could be - I'm southern and I've always called them Weed Eaters. Though I often use trimmer as well, because I don't like using brand names to describe a generic product.
