Hey, it's Wednesday and it's that time again. This week's Wednesday Wallpapers features the 2003 Mercedes Benze CLK 55 AMG. Beginning September 2002 Mercedes-AMG will present the CLK 55 AMG, the top of the line in the new CLK class and an entirely new standard in the segment for sporty, high-performance coupés. It is a stylish powerhouse equipped with the advanced AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine, which takes it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. Its powerful and dynamic appearance and its exclusive interior appointments give the CLK 55 AMG a unique, sporty and individual character. This week we feature 25 high quality images of the new CLK and a special bonus, featuring the Mercedes Benz Vision SLR Concept. Enjoy and hope to see you again next week!

Call it ricey all you want, but everything on that car is functional. I guess all-out racing = rice now, eh?

makes sense.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

What's up with those first two pics? Jerboy is right (boy, never thought I'd say that!), that looks like a ricer.

Just to clarify: big wings, spoilers, air dams, etc. on their own are not 'ricey'. On a car that is built for the racetrack they're perfectly functional and reasonable. However, the 'riceboy' movement to add all of this onto every car in the state of California that has over 100hp has caused a paradigm shift in the recognition attributed to these items. Now every time I see a wing hovering a foot over the trunk of a car I immediately think 'riceboy'. To see the CLK55 on a racetrack wouldn't be a problem, but if I saw the same look on car on the highway I'd expect to see a 19 year-old driving it, throwing sparks because it had been lowered by cutting the springs, big foot-wide coffee can exhaust on it, etc. Now, this is a very unfortunate association for Mercedes. I'm glad that their version will remain on the track and their production cars will be minus the wing and other parts/pieces...

i just think everyone has the wrong meaning of the word rice. to me, if you take a slow car, and add parts to it to pretend it adds performance, then that's rice. but if you take a FAST car and add to it, it's not rice, but more like TUNING. Even if i saw it on the road or on the track.

Slow + parts = rice
Fast + parts = tuning
race + anything = *bow down*

that race modified CLK = *bow down*

Boone, care to explain how that car is rice? Seeing as how that car would fly all over the place without that rear wing pushing down on the driven wheels and all...
