Wedding Song...

I think we're going to do Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky". Not a really obscure choice, but it's a great song and the lyrics are extremely wedding-relevant:

Oh so long for this night I prayed
That a star would guide you my way
To share with me this special day
Where a ribbon?s in the sky for our love

If allowed may I touch your hand
And if pleased may I once again
So that you too will understand
There?s a ribbon in the sky for our love

Do...do...
Do do do do do...
Hmm hmm...

This is not a coincidence
And far more than a lucky chance
But what is that was always meant
Is our ribbon in the sky for our love, love

We can?t lose with God on our side
We?ll find strength in each tear we cry
From now on it will be you and i
And our ribbon in the sky
Ribbon in the sky
A ribbon in the sky for our love

Do...do...
Do do do do do...
Hmm hmm...

There?s a ribbon in the sky for our love

Grow Old with Me - Mary Chapin Carpenter
Yes, normally she sings country, but this was originally recorded by (and maybe written by) John Lennon. I prefer Carpenter's version over Lennon's.

What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
It's a short song, but it's one of my favorites.
Is country ABSOLUTELY out of the question?

honestly, dont ask US what song should be for the two of you.
i would think about a song that means a lot to you, that the words express how you feel about her.

Is there any special song you and her sing along to together? it doesnt have to be the typical slow dance song.

it can be anything that has meaning to you or you and her. or, get an oldie. i am sure there have been times that there was music in the background and you two were together at a nice moment. think about it, it will come to you.

be unique and different. if you want. pick a cool latin song or something and take a few basic salsa lessons.

Jon Secada - Want You, Miss You, Love You
Chayanne - Refugio de Amor
Sinead O'Conner - Nothing Compares to you
Shai - Together Forever
All-4-One - I Swear
Brian McKnight - Love is
Brian McKnight - Back at One
Boyz 2 Men - On Bended Knee
Temptations - My Girl
Mariah Carey & Luther Vandross - Endless Love
Shania Twain - From this Moment
Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes for You
Bryan Adams - Have you ever loved a woman
Bryan Adams - I do it for you
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game
Whitney Houston - I will always love you
Whitney Houston - I have nothing

Agghh...Time to listen to some Rammstein, Tool & NIN

My fiancee picked "Someone Like You" - the version used in Bridget Jones' Diary soundtrack. But she tells me in the movie, it was sung by a guy and the soundtrack a girl... she wants the guy version... like I'm supposed to know how to find that (there's voiceovers within the flick during its play)... if anyone has any idea... let me know pls.

It's Van Morrison's version that she wants.

Perfect wedding song 😉

Better wedding song:

Artist: Jay Gordon of Orgy Lyrics
Song: Slept So Long Lyrics

Walking
Waiting
Alone without a care
Hoping
And hating
Things that I can't bear

Did you think it's cool
To walk right up
To take my life
And fvck it up
Well did you?
Well did you?

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise(surprise)
Touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

Walking, Waiting
Alone without a care
Hoping
And hating
Things that I can't bear

Did you think it's cool
To walk right up
To take my life
And fvck it up
Well did you?

I hate you!

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise
And touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

I've slept so long without you
It's tearing me apart too
How'd it get this far
Playing games with this old heart
I've killed a million petty souls
But I couldn't kill you

I've slept so long without you

I see hell in your eyes
Taken in by surprise
Touching you makes me feel alive
Touching you makes me die inside

One of the nicest weddings I've been to didn't have a DJ. They chose a string quartet to play classical music during the reception. Very classy and a very nice touch. If I had it to do over I think I would have a string quartet play at my reception.

No country is a possibility IF it is really a great song. My fiance actually likes country but I have a hard time not laughing or being annoyed at most country songs. This is AWESOME! I'll start downloading these and going through em to see which ones make the list. Keep em comin and thanks!

Well to be honest we have completely different tastes in music. She likes country and boy bands (I know) and those two I really have a hard time listening to. I like more heavy alternative old school 90's music. Fugazi.. etc... stuff that wouldnt work for a wedding. 🙂

Is this all Italian? That would be cool cause I'm italian! is it all opera? that could get old fast...

I think in the end you should just pick something she likes. I mean,... does this song really mean that much to you ?

That would be MUCH better than this but the $$ factor is what I'm looking at. I've got a $60 budget to download some songs to my computer which I'll use for the playlist... No DJ even. Its one of the few areas that we really didnt want to spend any money on. (cause to be honest we're way over budget as is... ) Her dad is a total character and will easily take a mic and get things going. 🙂

Yes, the second cd is awesome too. I'm a big Pavarotti fan.

Louis Armstrong's Wonderfull Life is not country either....but is a great song.

Some more suggestions (remember to listen to the lyrics):
Wings - My Love
The Beatles - Here, There, & Everywhere
Billy Joel - She's Got a Way
Ben Harper - Forever

Oh I agree... I definately want something she will love. No I dont think this will mean much to me compared to what it will mean to her. Here are the only 2 criteria that I have:
1- I want a song that is a bit unique - not one that you hear all the time on the radio or that everyone uses at their wedding. (which is why something a bit older might be what I go with)
2- I dont want some lame boy band song where all my buddies are going to mock me every time it is played in a movie or on the radio when my wife has the helm. (I know I shouldnt care what they think - but I do.) Boy band songs are fine for background music but not our song.
