eh, if it was a T2i there isn't much issue. in fact, i'd prefer an xti to a 10D.

wedding i went to last year had about 5 photographers, with 1 doing video on a 5D2 the whole time. another was carrying a 1Dsomething and a D700. the bride is a newspaper photographer, and the groom's sister is a trying to be a photographer, so i guess they know plenty of wedding photogs. they even brought a large format camera.

i really hate the constant cuts and sound effects in "reality" tv. as if my attention span wasn't short enough already.

Why on earth would a photog carry one canon and one nikon? That'd confuse the hell out of me.

Also, I'm shooting weddings for between $1000-1500. I shot my first one last year, but I'm very good at taking photos. Good photogs can be found for that price. I'd love to charge more, but I don't have the wedding portfolio to back ti.

you know, the video didn't say judge joe brown was an expert at photography, but the judge knew more about photography than the photog. With the tripod, you cannot get things to stand still, though YOU are personally holding it still. That's why there's the 1/60th rule. It's not just for the lens (though the lens will further dictate the shutter speed) but rather the people as well. Even if you can hold a camera like a stone, the people may not be able to stay still for you.

Anyways, great video! I think I can take better pics with the xti with the 18-55 lens. It's that they didn't have good PP.

I agree $1300 is cheap compared to others. They basically got what they pay for. To the defendant's credit, it could've been a miscommunication problem, at best. They should have clearly stated that they could do the wedding for $1300. But they wont like it! For another 1k, they'll get something much better (with Post work). But if a judge can tell that they're miss focusing, then this is all on the photog!

couldnt use a flash, according to the pastor.

If she really was a pro, with pro equipment, she wouldn't need one. I think that's the point. She's not a pro, but was marketing herself as one and charging as one. AND she kept insulting the judge, which is always a bad idea whether you are guilty or not. In this case, misrepresentation of services would have cost her the $1000 that the plaintiff asked for. The judge added another $1500 as compensation for the photographer's stupidity. I would have cheered if I was in that courtroom. Judges seem to rule in favor of stupidity far too often lately.

I would have to disagree with this. A pro would have gotten a faster lens to not have to use a tripod to take a longer exposure and use a flash. Flashes during the ceremony are tacky to me as they tend to distract everyone. Now, during the reception is fine.

maybe i should have said "a combination of the 3".

a pro limiting his bag of tricks would be retarded.

the nikon wasn't her normal kit. i did ask the bride about it, but forgot what she said.

the reception was rigged with a huge alienbees setup.

"TO EVERYONE who thinks that these photographers are half ass..guess what THEY ARE MY PARENTS, atujude19 is MY FRIEND. Judge JERK Brown is completely wrong. The beginning of his show status he goes for the truth, how can you get the truth from ONE side of the story? What everyone doesnt know is that Judge Jerk Brown didnt allow my parents to submit ANYTHING! If you seen the ACTUAL clip of what happened, your jaws would drop. This show is nothing but a HOAX! FAKE! Hes a liar and a FRAUD!"

Lets not lose sight of the fact that this is a TV show and is meant to be entertainment. Both parties agree to appear on the show and it is the show that pays for any judgment - not the defendants. Judge Joe Brown could have ordered the defendants to pay $1 or $5000 - either way they're not paying anything out of pocket.

Obviously there's more at risk than financial harm, as I doubt their reputation is all that fantastic after a show like this.

It would be much more entertaining if my trials went like this... unfortunately, the law is usually pretty boring - at least when it's not televised.

I dunno I think he is being kind of hard on equipment. Sounds like those people would have still produced snapshots even if they had a 1D/D3s/D700/D300/7D/whatever on them. I would think that a good photographer, if paired with the right lens, can work with an XTI without too many problems. Sure doesn't help their case.
Personally the most damning part was that these guys were shooting with the kit lens lol, and then him hitting points that no one else would have (ie: slight blur on the edge of the photos).
Obviously being a photographer he got passionate about it ;)

Another dumb defendant goes down in flames. If she had kept her mouth shut she would have at least kept $300. Now she's out an extra $1200!
