As topic states let's hear your weddings ideas that you guys have or have done. Prices are always good as well. I've been looking around and get a bunch of ideas but more can never hurt.

I'm getting married next month at the renaissance festival. The charge is $200, but they're giving us 20 tickets which normally sell for $10 each. I think altogether we should be able to pull it off for under $1500. We got titanium rings (hers with a blue sapphire), so that shaved a lot of the cost there :)

We got married on the beach with a brunch at the Marriot across the street. Then had a dinner affair at my parents' house. Had friends and family over for the weekend so we could all hang out. Done in Florida. Cost-$3500, Gifts-$9,000

(Two caring people) + (families) + (friends) = (good wedding).

That is all there is to the equation. Lets try adding more:

(Two caring people) + (families) + (friends) + (whatever else) = (good wedding) + (blown money that you'll never see again).

Nope, that doesn't help.

Don't really plan on the families being there. It's too hard and too much money to try and get everyone together at the same time from different parts of the country. We figured the two of us in a setting similar to what I posted above, would be best. Then maybe come back and have a big reception!

Married at the Old Lahaina Luau. Saw it on Top 10 Beaches of Hawaii on the Travel Channel (#5 on the list). Even got the same priest as the Luau will help arrange it. Reasonable.

Also, like any other wedding, there are about 400 strangers there. BUT, they pay their own way ;)

Not a wedding theme, but something to liven up the reception.

Instead of the bride and groom kissing when people bang on their glasses, they will kiss when a table (or other small group) stand up and sing a song. Can be any song, oldie, pop, TV theme song, etc. It provides entertainment for all, but mostly gets people talking and doing things together. You just need the best man to make a little announcement at the beginning of the reception, and it helps to have a table or two of friends ready to get things started.

My wife and I did this at our wedding twenty years ago after seeing it at a friends wedding. After things got going, my brother and I sang the drinking song from the Monty Python "Bruces" sketch. (Immmmanual Kant was a real pissant....)

Las Vegas + alcohol + drive-thru wedding chapel = cheap marriage

We already live in Vegas and I wouldn't want to do it that way.

Sky diving off a chopper into grand canyon. You are taking a dive (into marriage) anyway.

OP, what kind of ideas... I have a TON of them from everything to the ceramony and reception to honeymoon and beyond.
Can you be a bit more specific.... otherwise i will write a HUGE list!

Edit to say, we got married on Hawaii in 2005 and i did a lot LOT of the planning myself.
I chose to have the entire wedding at a resort, but I cut corners by doing the decorations myself, booking flowers outside of the hotel as well.
There were some places i did not want to scrimp (like photos and food and booze) but i have a lot of great ideas!
