Wedding gift for coworker

just as the title implies. we've worked together in the past and he's a cool, laid back guy. helped me out a few times. couple of us are taking him out tomorrow before he heads to vegas to get hitched.

i never met the bride. what should i give them? is a $100 gift card tacky? or should i give a crystal vase or something? or straight cash wrapped in newspaper? i hate wedding shopping.....

If they have a registry, pick something off of that, even if it is just one glass from their set. Period.

Anything else, though possibly a nice thought, is actually rude.

if all you're doing it going out with him and a couple coworkers and not going to the wedding, I would converse with your fellow coworkers and give a group gift (cash)

if you're going to the wedding, card + cash/check.

well, i ended up just getting a card with cash. i feel weird though since i gave 5 $20 bills instead of a single $100 bill. fvck, now that i think of it, maybe i miscalculated and gave 4 $20 bills. oh well.
