I've found plenty of quick hit blog posts that discuss "10 best note taking apps" yada, yada, yada....

Are there any sites that go into setting up such applications and their usage models? It seems like a much more involved application than your typical d/l from play store and start using.

Thanks!

This article pretty much sums up my experience with Evernote. Exactly like the author, I was in the "tried it, didn't get it" camp for a long time. Then I really got into it and found out it's pretty amazing. I just wasn't using it right at first. It's true, you just have to jump in and start noting everything with it and linking things together, and you quickly find that it's invaluable.

I've had an Evernote account for so long, years now. But I barely use it, I am gonna check out that Lifehacker bit and see if I can step it up.

Interesting read. I've been using one note but maybe I'll switch over to Evernote for a month or so and see how well it works. Looking for something more efficient and this may do the trick.

Does Evernote integrate with Google Docs / Drive? I have everything stored on Google Drive.

How is it better than Google drive?

Did you read the cited article?

On a related note, please let's not turn this thread into a debate over which note taking software is better. There are plenty of THOSE threads and blog posts as well.

I was looking for something akin to an Anandtech Review. In depth enough to help me assess whether or not my own personal organization style meshes with the program(s) whether its Evernote, Springpad, OneNote, etc.

Also, I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) on order so anyone with experience using these programs with inking support? I know MS One Note has tremendous inking support within the main application but lacks such support in its mobile offering for Android. While I'm sure I will find other uses, my main thought at the moment is marking up pdf's of AutoCAD drawings and/or sketching my own freehand drawings in the field w/ notes for use later.

I've been using Evernote for tracking work project, but I haven't used it in a while. Looking at the Lifehacker article it seems like worth my time to jump back into it.

I just looked into it, the bottom line is all this stuff is a great way to spend more time organizing your life than you do living it.

the most common one is the Getting Things Done + Evernote route. Search those 2 topics together and you'll find a lot.

@Tom - I appreciate the viewpoint but not really the point of this thread is it? :)

@Ns1 - Saw the references to Getting Things Done but never thought to include it in a search. Nice idea. Now if you can just teleport me to your "warm place" I will be all set! ;)

it's actually what the lifehacker article is based on, except there are several different variants.

re: a warm place, it's a cool 50' or so in LA, so not so warm ATM.

Part of me wasn't sure I was interested in conforming to someone else's productivity suggestions. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to search and see what comes up. More web postings along the lines of what I am looking for no doubt.

Weather is all relative of course....50 degrees in LA is probably parka weather while I would be cheering if it was 50 here in ohio....32 and icy right now.

Yeah I visited ohio once after the new year. It was a nice 0' F the whole trip. That was my last time visiting Ohio in the winter. LOL

Ha! When my grandparents moved to North Carolina they made fun of the locals who wore their winter coats when it hit 45 degrees.

Of course, in a few years they were wearing their winter coats too....
