after I uninstalled Kaspersky internet security I cannot open websites via all browsers.

internet works fine - i can use skype, gdrive etc. I can successfully ping sites, but if I try to open any website in browser I get page is unavailable. Everything worked perfectly fine before i uninstalled Kaspersky.

Everything works fine in safe mode, so it's gotta be some software causing issues.

what i did so far:
I've downloaded official Kaspersky removal tool and ran it - it confirmed removal, but didn't solve the issue.
I've downloaded and ran free Malware bytes and ccleaner - it didn't solve it.
I've tried to flash dns, re-register dns, reset network - nothing worked
i have ip address and dns set to obtain automatically

i have windows 7
Please help, I'm out of ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Could be Kaspersky browser add-ons installed in the browser that need to be uninstalled or turned off?

There was no add on on any browsers. Problem affects all browsers. I also used kaspersky removal tool to double check that it is uninstalled. I know it sounds mad, but I even manually deleted every mention of kaspersky via regedit. I'm just out of ideas..
I've been trying to enable/disable different services trying to catch an issue.. But it didn't work either. Websites Still open fine in safe mode though.

Try resetting IE's settings.

IE > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset Internet Explorer settings.

i have 4 browsers installed. IE, Chrome, Firefox don't work. However I just found out that Safari works ok. It's not the best browser for windows, so I'm trying to figure how to solve it for other browsers.

I started from firefox: I uninstalled, cleared all attributes via ccleaner : http://screencast.com/t/GZdm56v4Tj downloaded and installed a fresh copy - but I'm still getting the same issues.

I've tried resetting every browser to default including IE, it doesn't solve the issue..

Check your network adapters and see if Kaspersky left anything behind. Post a screenshot if there's anything there you don't understand or think looks unusual.

Try the networking troubleshooter and see if it fixes the problem.

well that's exactly my problem. i wish i knew where to look for something unusual. I tried troubleshooting several times before and just tried it again - no luck. And i've done anything I could think of that relates to hardware. Powercycling pc/modem/router, connecting with or without router, disable/enable connection/ rolled back/uninstall/re-install drivers etc.

I cannot identify any problem. I can ping any website, there are no visible issues, but 3 browsers refuse to work. Firefox doesn't work even after clean re-install.

I'm going to try to do clean install of IE and chrome, but i doubt it will help...

When you're pinging, are you using the domain name (eg, ping yahoo.com) or IP address (eg, ping 8.8.8.8)?

Also, try running the browser as Administrator (Start > Google Chrome > right-click "run as administrator").

windows firewall is disabled and this is the only firewall i have.

I just ran into something strange though. not sure if this matters.

when i go to firefox advanced settings: about:preferences#advanced and click
configure how Firefox connects to the Internet : Settings. The settings are set to "Use system proxy settings" . When i change to No Proxy and click ok - it hides pop up like it saves changes, but when i click settings again - it's set to "User system proxy settings". Essentially whatever other option i select, it goes back to Use system proxy settings.

I don't have proxy server checked in internet options / lan settigns.

Try creating a new profile for Firefox/Chrome, or run as Administrator.

I tried to run browsers as admin - it doesn't work. When you say create new profile for browsers - where should I create them? My firewall is disabled.

For Firefox try these steps to get rid of the proxy:

To disable proxy settings in registry for Mozilla Firefox, you need to access the Run prompt from the Start menu of the system and type regedit. It will display the registry editor in which you need to select the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder. You need to then click the + sign near to the folder and thus navigate to the 'CurrentVersion Internet Settings' sub-key. In the right pane, you can view contents of 'Internet Settings' folder. Here, you need to select the 'ProxyEnable' DWORD value. It will bring up the 'Edit DWORD Value' window and you need to change its "Value data" to '1'. Finally, click OK button to confirm these changes.

Also check the Registry for any entries related to Kaspersky and get rid of them. Same with anything left in the install directory and in Docs and Settings for this app.
Worst case, you may need to ask Kaspersky how to fix the problem there software created. You could also try a repair install of the affected web browsers.

i already got rid of proxy via settings. I also tried your advice - it didn't help.

I did search and deleted every mention of Kaspersky from registry. I did it couple days ago in attempts to get rid of any possible leftovers. It didn't help.

I also cleaned every mention of firefox before I reinstalled it fresh copy of the browser - this didn't help me either. Firefox still won't open any websites.

And yes I called Kaspersky - they told me I needed to purchase another year of their product in order to fix this issue. These people are far worse than viruses that they claim they protect you against. As a matter of fact, I've changed all my important passwords since I used their "secured browsing" when entering passwords. This is the worst experience Ive ever had with a piece of software...

Anyway .. I've been trying to fix this for days and failed. I've tried several major forums and it didn't work either. I need my browsers working, so I'll wait for couple more hours and will format drive and re-install windows. Hope at least that will work :))
