UPDATE:
Ok, called Comcast. They said they never block any sites.
I reset the modem/gateway. No go.
I turned off the modem/gateway firewall. No go.
I power cycled the modem/gateway. No go.
I called Motorola tech support and they havent a clue. They said that if I had the port # that pedigree.com used they would be able to tell me how to open that port, but ... well, basically they have no clue.

This is the weirdest thing I have ever experienced. Every other website works without issue. But I just cannot get access to that site. Not thru IE or FF. Not from any system in the house.
Sheesh.
Now what?

Oh, anyone wanna go to www.pedigree.com and find me a tech support phone number? I would appreciate it.

thanks.

I have no problems except for www.pedigree.com

I have been trying to get acess for the past three weeks without success.
This is the ONLY site I am having a problem with and it does not matter what time of the day or night I try to access it or which browser I use.
It is important to me that I get there, because I really want to participate in THIS.

All and any help/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

FireFox tells me:

The connection has timed out

The server at pedigree.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
===========================================================

IE says:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.

go to cmd, type in /ipconfig /flushdns, then /ipconfig /registerdns after that.

That helps me on many occassions where a particular site wouldn't load. Good luck

ok, I cannot access www.pedigree.com from any computer in the house.

Two desktops, two laptops. none of them will access that site.

Each system is using different firewall/antivirus software, so i am doubting it could be that.

sigh. :(

Run tracert www.pedigree.com in a Command Prompt to see where your connection to the site is failing. Since it happens on all computers in your home, I would suspect it's either something strange on your router, your ISP's DNS server, or their gateway server.

edit: this site was temporarily down. has nothing to do with the original issue.

please... someone tell me what i should do here.

i have tried the reset button on the modem/gateway but that did not help. i dont know if a full power cycle would change anything. the modem/gateway has a firewall enabled, but i would not know what to look for there. i dont know if this is a hardware issue, a software issue, a windows issue of what.

thanks in advance.

If you are getting "Request timed out" at the first step of the TRACERT on multiple computers then the problem has to be with your modem/router. Likely something wrong with the routing tables on the router or something similar. I would recommend a complete power cycle (unplug power from the modem/router for several minutes then plug it back in and wait for the lights to come back on and then restart your computers) and see if that has any effect. If not, I would call your ISP to see about getting the modem/router serviced or replaced - assuming they provided it to you.

thank you.

it is my modem/router. i bought it, a little less than a year ago.

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/sbg900/

i had this problem once before. there was about 10 sites i could not connect to. avon.com, samsclub.com, homedepot.com... stuff like that. comcast said it was the modem i was using at the time. linksys.

i did not think it could be the same thing again.

i will take your suggestions.

another question... if i had to poser cycle the modem... i then need to set up the firewall again and reset the eesid and wep key again, right?

again, thasnks so much.

If it makes you feel any better I can't get to pedigree.com either right now. I am getting the same errors with IE and Firefox. We have Comcast business class here at work leasing one of their modems. Every other site works perfectly, like you described. So unless pedigree.com is down right now I am having similar issues.

In the past, we have had problems with our modem (not the same as yours) blocking sites and I remember it was a pain to figure out why.

I will look into it more tomorrow at work.
