Website scripts

I'm trying to make this news type site where people can post comments and make ratings. Additionally, people can also sign up to post their own "news".
Anyone know of an open source script that I can use?
I want something like http://www.thephatphree.com except users can sign up to post their own entries.

Umm.... so what you are looking for is a blog web application? There are plenty of those out there....

Yeah, your choices are to use one of the blog applications like blogger, or customize an existing script. Which script depends on the server platform and what you want to do.

Thanks for the site,
I tried using greymatter, but it wasn't too intuitive and userfriendly. I need something with good templates too so I don't have to put much effort in designing. Just want to slap the logo on there and put on the content.
