I'm putting up a new website to show off some of the things I've coded in the last year or so - hopefully this is is gonna help drum up some more business for me.

I registered www.nicetechnology.co.uk as the domain name so I need the words 'nice technology' in the logo but other than that I don't really know what I want. Here's my best effort...

http://nicetechnology.co.uk/nice.jpg

...yea I know it's crap :D

So anyone got any ideas? Feel free to change the colors etc completely. Any rough ideas I can work from would be much appreciated but if anyone wants to do something proper I could paypal a few £ your way.

Come up with 5 totally different ideas with 3 color sets each and I will happily work with you from there.

Can't even do some rough sketches or anything?

I mean, I can tear into the one you have if you'd like:

The yellow against the white is harsh on the eyes. Color needs to change.
The yellow circle, because of it's positioning, looks like it is supposed to be a poor attempt at using a shape for a letter... as if the name is actually supposed to be "onice"
I don't know if it is intentional or not but the yellow dot combined with the green line give me the impression of a sun rising over a field or something.
The word "technology" seems to be running away from everything else. It's just kinda hanging there. You should tighten it up a bit.
The colors in general remind me of John Deere tractors. Maybe that was intentional and you're selling farm technology, but I doubt it.
In general, there doesn't seem to be anything technological about the logo. As a neat little experiment, scramble the letters in the name and see if things still look good. See if you can at least get a vague idea what is being sold here. Once again, based on the colors and the image the circle and line convey, I would guess that it has something to do with agriculture or plants... or the ecology. Take a look at technology sites in general. There are certain colors that you will see recurring and certain colors you rarely see. Orange, Green, Yellow, Purple & Brown are colors you don't see too much of for tech. Red, Blue, Black, Grey are colors you see more often.

Buddy you need to start from scratch, get your essence statement / mission written out and refined, then start from the ground up with sketches or find someone who can sketch. Don't rely on color, type or any other single element at this point.

I too perceived the circle as a sun. I actually thought it could be oranged up and given rays. Why not have a 'nice day' drive home the name 'Nice'?
