Website Idea

If anyone wants to go do this and make money, that's fine. PM me if your conscience thinks that you owe me royalties.

There should be a website where you input the contents of your pantry, fridge, etc., and it gives recipes (out of a large database) that you can make using only stuff you have on hand.

If this already exists, where can I find it? That'd be cool.

Check out idrink.com for similiar functionality for mixed drinks.

I wonder if there's a site that will produce recipes with ONLY those ingredients?

Like, if you're fairly poor like me, and you're staring into a pantry full of random stuff, and you're just wondering what you can make with what you have on hand, but the stress of a long day has killed your creativity

I believe there's an actual fridge with a flatscreen built into it that does just this. Maybe I saw it in a program, I can't recall.

It would be neat if you could use RFID for this i.e. as you put the items into the fridge it checks them off, complete with date. In the morning it suggests possible meals for the evening with a list of a couple of extra things you may need (non-refrigerated stuff, for example). In the evening, it provides recipies for various meals using the content of the fridge, sorted by nearest use-by date.

I do like the idea of RFID. It would be cool if you could set up an account with a shopping store where they store your credit card details and give you an RFID tag that lives in your wallet. You walk into the store (ie it registeres you've arrived), you cruise about, dumping whatever into your trolley (cart) then pass through a gate on the way out. As you do this, the RFID tags on each item register and it charges your card automatically.
Obviously there's a bunch of problems such as what to do for loose fruit/veg and all that, but I for one really hate having to wait for some woman to go through every item I've just picked up.

Well, looking back thios has little to do with the OP, but I've got this off my chest now. Onward bound.
