my girlfriend has a computer she is giving me and i wanna run my personal website and my fraternity site off of it heres the setup i was gonna use

256mb
13gig7200
0d/512up DSL
win2k server
IIS 5.0
30min UPS

is this enough???

I imagine this is going to be mostly static pages with relatively light traffic, so it sounds pretty good. Make sure to get all the security patches before you make the system go live.

Remove IIS and setup Apache

Your hardware should be fine for simple pages.

1-these websites will be mainly html, flash+actionscripting,asp,and cgi
2- ill look into that up and down desl issue
3- any DSL provider should let u host either a website or ftp im running a FTP and a game server right now

any more votes for apache over IIS

Yes another vote for apache here 🙂

You know that Code Red targets IIS servers and apart from that they are full of security holes.

Apache is harder to manage but more stable and more secure.
