I, along with many other people use pop-up blockers or Mozilla to stop pop-up windows in the first place. Now I know we have not had (and thank god for that) any advertisment pop-up's in a long time...

I am not complaining about the advertising, I have to allow Anandtech to be on the allowed list for pop-up's just to start a new thread. It is very annoying and takes up more system resources which I find valueable for crunching for the TeAm.
Thats another reason why I use Mozilla over IE. Opening a new tab uses less resources on my system, is way more convienient (IE users have no idea what they are missing :p).

All that is kinda trivial though. Now getting to the point. I normally have to perform a search on the forums. I have all my tabs open for a reason. While I am reading something / researching something / keeping it open for a reason / cross referencing something. I normally am in middle of that and I think of something that is being talked about, and I recall something of it in a previous thread, but am not done reading the current one. I like to do a quick search. But the cursed "new topic, profile, search, help, faq, my forums, home, and logout buttons will NOT!!! open in new tabs. For the buttons I highlighted in bold italic's... please do us all a favor. Use some more standard HTML in there please :cookie:. All it is on a couple tests I mocked up using the page source was a couple mediocre html language. Surely with all the talent with the Anandtech web staff, you can easily impliment it w/o changing the looks or the functionality (well, perhaps the pop-up window for starting a new thread or help button's).

Can we please have that simple little change? It would make things so much more convienient instead of teedious. I have to open new tabs on a in forum link just to do a search. If I use the back buttun. Sometimes it takes a while just to find what it was I am doing the search for... especially on popular high reply threads.

We are not going to change the layout or operation of the forums at this time. The software is not written or maintained by anandtech it is third party software and we do not modify it.

When I press new topic or reply, or whatever, it opens in a new tab for me, and I don't have AT on my allowed list, it should work as long as you're the one opening the popup(so to speak).
I agree about the toolbar buttons though, they suck :(

You have to complain to Jason Clark, except you have to do it on a different website.

I've always gotten the feeling that the only opinions that matter to FT are those of the people spending the $ and not those of people who actually use the product.
