Webdesign--interactive calendar and message board

So I am designing a website for a university organization--and its been a while since i've touched webdesign (7 years). So I am getting back in the game.

I am looking for a script for an online calendar--one that can be edited by certain members (that I will grant access), and wil have detailed descriptions when you click on them. Any ideas?

Also, I would like to make a message board/forum for announcements and such. Whats the best script for that--preferably free.

There are online calendars that you can use as long as you register an acount. I think Bravenet has one that i use to use.
