well I don't really know where to post my thread so I decided to post it here. Well my gf's mom is looking for a good webcam, something she can use to communicate her family members in another country. Shes looking to spend under $50 so I was wondering what we should get for her. What program would be best to use with the webcam to communicate or having streaming video? will there be a delay in the webcams?

For a decent cam I would go with the Pro 4000. But then it can only function as design if you have enough bandwidth.

For the $50 range I would go with the Logitech Communicate STX, not the greatest cam in the world, but for the price it does a good job.

I've got the logitech communicate, it does what it's supposed to, not many frills but better quality than the POS phillips one i had, and the softwares' pretty good too.

If you are buying new, the Communicate STX is quite good. I personally use a Pro 4000 and I am extremely pleased with it, especially its flat panel clip.

The Orbit and all of the "true" 1.3mp Logitechs are probably overkill.

The Messenger/Chat/Express are all good, basic, solid webcams.

I actually have a pair of new Messengers for sale in the FS/FT forums ;-)

for communication using the webcam, the latest version of skype allows video sharing if you're using xp!
