I want to use it mainly for televideo with my kids, both machines running win98, mine is laptop.

I would very much like a cost effective solution, both machines connected to cable modem.

i bought quickcam pro 3000 but the picture quality isn't good at all if you use netmeeting a lot. i don't know about lower end models, you can check intel webcam and see which is better.
