I have a Sony digital camcorder and a Pinnacle firewire card.

The software that comes with Pinnacle Studio DV package is only useful for recording and making movies. Well, that is what I'm mainly using it for. But I am also trying to use the same hardware to use it as a spycam and watch it on the web.

Are there any softwares/drivers available that can be used to setup the above hardwares as a quality webcam/spycam? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

YES YOU CAN !

go to:

Teveo

Thier freeware package will set up a streaming webcam and the webpage for viewing using DV Cameras and Firewire cards. Supports Public or Private Cameras

I use a Panasonic DV Camera and a Dlink Firewire card. Works Great.

NOTE: had to update to DX8 and get M$ latest DV drivers to get it to work properly.....

Good Luck

Direct x 8. Go to microsoft.com, and use the handy search feature.

Thanks Helznicht.

It works great. Video quality is good. No sound though. Am I missing something or teveo works only with video? What are other alternatives?

Yup, no sound, 99.9% of all webcam software doesnt have sound (most webcams dont have a microphone).

I think your thinking more of video confrencing software like MS Net Meeting. I personally have never used it, but seeing it is by Microsoft, I bet it probally work with the Dx8 drivers.

BUT, video confrencing will have some disadvangages like software needing to be on all PCs involved (viweing or sending) and the sound working though the "mic input" on you sound card.

You might try using some kind of live sound streaming software and use it in conjunction with you webcam.

Good Luck...
