webcam software needed

We just brought my 2 year old son home From the Hospital for Sick children and I need to be able to monitor my child while he's sleeping to make sure he doesn't sleep on his back. I am trying to avoid having to sit in his room while I monitor him as I'm sure to wake him up. I bought a low light web cam to monitor him and have it hooked up to a laptop that I've put in his room. I wirelessly connect to the router I have in my house. I am using Microsoft Windows Messenger, but the screen is so small in Microsoft Messenger that it's not really an option. The camera I bought was this one: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/multimedia/mut/pro_mut_detail.php?UID=604
So what I am looking for is some software that allows a chat to occur in a 640x480 window... does such an application exist? Is there something else I can use to achieve the same thing?

Have you tried the actuall MSN messenger? I found the built-in windows messenger is a rather outdated version that does not update. Of course, I never thought the video was that large, and I assumed it was due to the fact that most webcams don't record higher than 640x480, if that high. Seeing as that resolution would only be a tiny box on my screen anyway, I assumed it was displaying at the proper resolution as it was.

I have always had good luck both size and picture quality wise with Eyeball Chat. Awesome software!

Windows messenger and MSN messenger is the same core, MSN gives additional features. the resolution that I get is 320, not t 640, are you able to change your resolution as I can not find a setting for this. I thought stock setting was left at 320.

I'll have a look at Eyeball Chat for now and see what the options are like. Please keep the suggestions coming though.

Cheers all.

Trust me, the windows messenger and MSN messenger are very different. The windows messenger is very, very outdated.

ok, so it turns out that I can not keep a video chat going for longer than 5 minutes in windows messenger. It may be my useless provider that's causing the issue. Does anyone know of a way to set up a webcam internal to a network without going outside of the network?

For internal, use NetMeeting. Just dial in the laptop's IP address to connect. For auto-connect to the lappy, click Call->Auto Accept Calls. To auto-send video, click Tools->Options->Auto-send video. While there, also select to send large image size. You can also set it to auto-start at boot in Tools->Options->General.

Then on the receiving machine, right-click the video window and select window size.

Netmeeting is the best for LAN.

On the internet ive had the best speed/quality from yahoo messenger, but that doesnt say much, because no one seems to make software that works like it should for webcams.
