Webcam security camera software

Leros

Lifer
I'm going out of town for a while and I'd like to setup a webcam for some peace of mind.

Features I want from webcam security software:
1) Live stream accessible from web interface
2) Motion sensed activates recording to disk
3) Recordings viewable from web interface

Other requirement
4) Should always be up (despite windows update, reboots, power failures, etc)

I'm going to setup an old laptop with Windows XP. I've yet to buy a webcam, so if a certain webcam comes with software that would be fantastic.

Any suggestions, advice, etc?

So far, I've found a way to stream my webcam. http://www.webcamxp.com/home.aspx

It has a little webserver built it that will stream the video out using javascript, wmv, or flash. It works in the browser on my iPhone which is pretty cool.

It can do motion detection, but its not easy to setup. I still haven't really figured it out. To make it worse, the notification methods are lousy. It can upload recordings to an ftp server or send HTTP POST messages. I want an email or something.

So I'm still looking for a better piece of software.

guys, I have my own small company and have set up a 3 camera security system ages ago. What you need is a DVR, do not use a computer for this as boots, power failiures updates etc, will cause interference. A cheap DVR, One 500GB hard disk in it, 2 or 3 cameras will get the job done and give you up to 30 days of backup untill data is over witten, You also do not have to install it professionally as it is very easy to setup. On bright side, it has all those points you mentioned that you are looking for.

Oh yeah, it cost me roughly $750. I dont know what your budget is. All i can tell you is if there is a robbery, you know you are covered with such a system as there is peace of mind, a pc solution will never give you that.
