Well, if you took time to read this, then you probably know what I'm going to say, we have Win2K!:D It arrived Friday night, and Mika opened it yesterday, so now it's only a matter of time before the webbox itself is physically running(as opposed to cracking for Mika;)).

Anyways, this also brings up a couple issues that need to be taken care of. First of all, we've allready named the webbox(and if you can't figure out the name, I think DanC has a trout waiting:p), but we need a name for the current statsbox; which means it's contest time again!:D The contest will be up soon, but the gist of it is that the winner will have their name used as the offical name for the webbox, and will get some block kickback as a reward(as usual, all original kickback comes from a PMMX200 used by ViRGE;)). This name will also be the subdomain of the box for future proxy work.

The other thing is that we need to hire someone to help with the content for the box. I may not end up having all the time I need(besides, I suck at this stuff;)), so I'm looking to "hire" a content manager to at least get some content ready for the launch. It will be the manager's job to get the FAQ's set up for the site, along with working with Paulson in converting his webpages over to the format for the new site, along with a couple of "other" things. Pay is the same as I get, so I think you'll be well compenstated.;) Say something if you're interested in the job(Note: Looking for very well known members, since we'd like for the content manager to have direct access to the box).

Anyways, that's where we stand now, though it won't be standing for much longer.;) Here's to TA.com!:D

PS If your name is Bphantom, you get extra brownie points, per indication from Mika ;)

After a little thought and some ideas bounced around in the IRC channel, I'll nominate "workbox" as a name for our hard-working dualeron. Others I thought of were "crackDealer," "Robin" (with the WebBox named "Batman"), "box 'o celery" and "turbo." C'mon, everyone get those creative juices flowing... I don't want to be the only person getting laughed at here! ; )

Nah, Shaggy!!!!

ViRGE, I would like to take this oppronunity to nominate a Content Master. This person needs to be responsible, well spoken, have a real presence here on the forums so that people will recognize him or her. This is a vitally important position, and I think I know who the right person is. Also, keep in mind this person is worth every penny we pay them. (/me tries not to smile on that last sentance)

I'd like to nominate.........ViRGE. (How do you make a Rassberry sound???)

Jator

P.S. Can I get a second on the nomination???

Sorry Jay, but I'm not allowing ViRGE to do this, he's a little too shifty eyed for my tastes.;)

Heeeey, Possessed... "The Core," I have seen several good names but I think that is my favorite so far! Doesn't hurt that it's the name of a Descent 3 map, of course... ; )

OK, then I would say Ray would another choice. JonB would also be a good candidate as would LD and bphantom, but those two are busy with the GameBox.

Honestly, I would love to see more of BoberFett, and if this would be a way to help get him back to the boards more often, I would reccomend him as well (though not sure what's going on in his personal life that might keep him from doing it).

In other words, there are a lot of good candidates.

Well, we have a gamebox, a webbox and a statsbox, let's just call it what it is: Statsbox.
But The Core is cool, too.

As far as the names, I like mechbegon's crackDealer... For some reason that just kills me! :)

And since I know Virge is a busy guy, I'm willing to volunteer to work on the content side of the webbox. I have a fair amount of experience with web pages (though my graphic design skills ... IS SUCK!) However, someone comes up with a design template/schematic, and I can do the boring details like a champ! ;)

If my rep is acceptable, let me know. The nature of my job (phone tech support) would allow me to spend time each day working on the box if necessary.

We don't want to go with "Statsbox" simply because Dnet uses that term for their statsbox, so it'd be best to avoid that kind of confusion. As for the content master, that makes you only the 2nd peoson to sign up so far Jhutch, so you've got a 50/50 chance so far.;)

ViRGE, so if I applied and with my brownie points added in, it would be 34/33/33 for me, correct? ;) .. Mika entrusted me with access to his box before he went on vacation. I'm always there for backup and continue to do log maintenence. Your needing a webmaster/content manager, which I'm not exactly qualified for (my air cannon site, tapp status, and a couple pages on GameBox is as much as I have touched HTML). I would probably do a fine job on it, but I prefer to do admin sort of work (Mika, the new log compressor is coming along great!). Even so, I'm already the "DNS Guy."

I have volunteered for the t*a*.com site and willing to do whatever is needed. Since I'm also an admin on TheGameBox, I'm sure if I did anything less on GameBox, LD would pummel me with dual stinky trout's. :)

As for hostnames, thebrain is catchy. ;) I'd suggest some other ones, but my naming scheme is a bit weird. :)

I also like The Core. core.teamanandtech.com sounds cool

Interestingly enough, when I originaly built the box, I named it thebrain and it still has that name!

It is probably a good idea to have two seperate content managers: one for SETI and one for RC5. (perhaps a third for the other distributed projects such as GF also)

The content managers must be interested in doing the work (it wouldn't make sense to vote on someone, then they say they don't want to do it :))

In addition to the nominations here, I would like to add Jator to the list.

Brad has certainly done a very fine job keeping the box running smoothly, and you can look forward to his perl skills adding lots of features to the website :)

/me slaps Mika with a REALLY BIG TROUT!!!!!!!!!!

Don't drag me into this!!!!

Seroiusly, I wouldn't mind some small part, but I don't think I will have the time with the baby due in a few short weeks. This project deserves someone who is not only committed to the team, but actually has some spare time.

I am willing to help the Content Master, but please, do not put me in the running!!!

Jay
